Your fiscal year start decides how the date picker lays out and names quarters and fiscal years. It never changes a figure: the same dates always give the same totals.
Your starting month
Until you choose your own start, Reports takes it from the country on your Beventi account:
Account country | Fiscal year starts in |
Australia | July |
United Kingdom, New Zealand, India, Isle of Man, Hong Kong | April |
South Africa | March |
Anywhere else, including the United States and Canada | January |
If yours is different, change it in the date picker. It's one setting for your whole account.
Change your fiscal year start
Select the date chip in the filter bar, then select Fiscal year.
At the bottom of the panel, choose your month in Your fiscal year starts in.
If your fiscal year starts in January, there is no Fiscal year row, because it's the same as the calendar year. To change it:
Select the date chip, then select Year.
Under the years, select Change beside "Your fiscal year starts in January."
Choose your month in Your fiscal year starts in.
Your choice saves straight away, even if you then select Cancel, and it applies to everyone on your team. If it can't be saved, you'll see "We couldn't save your fiscal year start." and your previous month comes back.
Report on a fiscal year
Select the date chip, then select Fiscal year.
Pick the year, for example FY2026.
Select Apply.
A fiscal year is named after the calendar year it ends in. With a July start, FY2026 runs from 1 Jul 2025 to 30 Jun 2026. With an April start, FY2026 runs from 1 Apr 2025 to 31 Mar 2026. The year you're in is marked "to date" and runs to today.
With a January start, use Year instead. For example, 2025 covers 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025.
Report on a quarter
Select the date chip, then select Quarter.
Pick the year in the switch at the top of the panel.
Pick Q1, Q2, Q3 or Q4. Each one shows the months it covers, or its dates so far while it's running.
Select Apply.
Quarters follow your fiscal year, so Q1 starts in your starting month. When your year doesn't start in January, the panel says so, for example "Quarters follow your fiscal year, from July." The quarter you're in is marked "to date", and quarters that haven't started are grayed out.
Fiscal year starts in | Q1 covers | Q1 is named |
January | Jan to Mar 2026 | Q1 2026 |
April | Apr to Jun 2026 | Q1 FY2027 |
July | Jul to Sep 2026 | Q1 FY2027 |
Quarters in the export dialog
The export dialog's Dates row names a quarter by its months rather than by its quarter name. For example, Q1 FY2027 shows as "Jul to Sep 2026 · 1 Jul 2026 to 30 Sep 2026". The dates, and the file, are the same.
Two or more years
Pick each fiscal year in turn and export each one. Or choose your own dates covering up to 731 days, for example 1 Apr 2024 to 31 Mar 2026 for two April-start years. See Choose a date range in Reports.
FAQ
How do I see my sales for my financial year, for example 1 July to 30 June?
Set your fiscal year to start in July (Australian accounts start there already). Then select the date chip, Fiscal year, the year you need, such as FY2026 for 1 Jul 2025 to 30 Jun 2026, and Apply.
Why is there no Fiscal year option in my date picker?
Your fiscal year starts in January, so it's the same as the calendar year. Use Year, or select Year and then Change to set a different start.
Which months are my Q1?
The first three months of your fiscal year. With a July start, Q1 is July to September. With an April start, it's April to June. With a January start, it's January to March.
Will changing my fiscal year start change my numbers or my team's view?
It never changes your numbers. It does change how quarters and fiscal years are laid out and named for everyone on your team, because the setting is shared.
My tax year starts partway through a month. Can Reports match it?
Fiscal years and quarters always start on the 1st of a month. For a year that starts on another day, choose your own start and end dates instead.
Can Reports give me GST or sales tax figures?
No. Beventi doesn't track tax collection, so Reports has no tax figures. Reports gives you your sales and Beventi's fees for the period. Check with your accountant about what you need to report.
