Get started with Reports

Find Reports in your Seller Dashboard and learn what each tab, filter and figure is for.

Reports shows what you sold, what you kept and where it came from, across every sales channel and every pen name on your account. Figures are read live from your orders each time the page loads, and money is never converted between currencies.

Open Reports

  1. In the sidebar of your Seller Dashboard, select Reports. It sits below Shipping.

  2. Reports opens on the Overview tab for the Last 30 days, with All channels and "Compare" off. If you have more than one pen name, it also starts on All profiles.

  3. Choose another tab, or change the dates and filters in the bar at the top.

The Overview starts with Net earnings, Orders and Units sold, followed by Bestsellers, At a glance, Where sales came from and Top events. Hover or tap the info icon beside a figure for a short definition, or see What each figure in Reports means.

Reports is open to the account owner and team admins. If you're on a team and can't see it, see Give your bookkeeper or team access to Reports.

Filter bar overview

The bar above the tabs sets what every tab and the export count. Your choices stay in place as you move between tabs.

  • The date chip reads Last 30 days by default but can be set to standardized or custom date ranges. On the Overview and Sales tabs, you can also use Compare to show comparisons to another time period. See Choose a date range in Reports.

  • All channels: narrow Reports to Direct sales, Event preorders, Tickets or Wholesale. See Filter Reports by sales channel or pen name.

  • All profiles: appears when you have two or more pen names, and narrows Reports to one of them. (See the same article as above.)

  • Export: download your accounting CSV for the dates, channel and pen name you've set. See Export your sales as an accounting CSV.

If you sell in more than one currency, you can toggle between each currency under Net earnings on the Overview and Sales tabs. See View sales in more than one currency.

Open the details

  • On the Overview, select an item in Bestsellers or an event in Top events to open a side panel with its details.

  • On the Products, Events, Direct and Tickets tabs, select a row to open its side panel.

  • Select a category in Where sales came from on the Overview to filter the whole report to that category. Select it again to clear it.

  • View all on Bestsellers or Top events opens the Products or Events tab.

  • Rows in the Wholesale Buyers table and the Shipping Carriers breakdown don't open a panel.

Bookmark or share a view

The address in your browser keeps the tab, dates, comparison, channel, pen name and currency you've chosen. Bookmark the page, or copy the link, to come back to the same view. Anyone who can open Reports for your account sees the same view from that link.

  • Rolling ranges such as Last 30 days move forward each day. A month, quarter or year always opens on that same period, and your own dates don't change.

  • Your browser's Back button leaves Reports. It doesn't undo a filter or step back through tabs.

On your phone

  • Each chip in the filter bar opens a sheet from the bottom of the screen.

  • The row of chips and the row of tabs scroll sideways. Swipe to see them all.

  • Export shows only its download icon.

  • A few extras are hidden to save room, such as the "from" lines under figures when you compare.

What Reports doesn't show

Reports covers your Beventi orders and Beventi's fees. It doesn't show:

  • Payouts to your bank. Payments go straight to your own payment provider account, such as Stripe or PayPal, and reach your bank on your payment provider's payout schedule.

  • Processing fees. Your payment provider takes these from each payment, separately from Beventi's fees.

  • Tax. Beventi doesn't track tax collection, so Reports has no tax figures.

For example, a reader preorders a $100.00 book for an event. They pay $102.00, which includes the 2% reader fee. Beventi keeps that $2.00 and the 2.99% platform fee ($2.99), so Reports shows Gross sales of $100.00 and Net earnings of $97.01. Your payment provider then takes its own processing fee from the payment, and that fee isn't in Reports.

To match Reports with your payment provider's statement, see Reconcile Reports with your payment provider. For the fee rates, see Understanding Beventi Fees.

If you're a bookkeeper

You can open Reports if you're the account owner or a team Admin. Assistants can't. To prepare figures for the books:
