The Smart Router is the default setting in Beyond Chat: it automatically selects the right AI model for every request. You ask your question, it takes care of the rest.
What does the Smart Router do?
For every request, the Smart Router checks all models enabled for you and picks the best one for the task at hand. You benefit from the strengths of all providers without having to compare models yourself.
How it decides
The Smart Router evaluates your request in three steps:
Required tools: Does the task need web search, image generation, Reasoning or Code Execution? Only models with these capabilities are considered.
Complexity: How demanding is the task? Simple questions don't need a premium model, complex analyses do.
Subject area: What is it about, for example coding or content creation? Some models are stronger in certain areas.
From the models still in the running, the Smart Router picks the most efficient one: the best balance of cost and speed.
Choosing a model yourself
You are not tied to the Smart Router. Pick a specific model in the model selection in the chat at any time, for example when you want to work with one particular model. The info card shown on hover gives you each model's key facts.
Tip: For everyday work, the Smart Router is the best choice. It keeps costs low because it uses inexpensive models where they are sufficient and expensive ones only where they are needed.
