Enable Microsoft Login for Billy (Microsoft Entra ID Integration)

Billy integrates with Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) to allow your team to securely log in using your organization’s Microsoft credentials.

By connecting Billy with Microsoft Entra, your organization can:

  • Ensure vendors are compliant before gaining access to internal systems

  • Automatically restrict access if required compliance documents expire

  • Align vendor onboarding with IT-managed access controls

  • Reduce audit risk by connecting compliance status with identity access

For example:

  • A subcontractor with an expired COI can automatically lose access to internal software until coverage is renewed

  • A vendor without a submitted W9 cannot be granted access to accounting systems

What This Means for Your Team:

Once enabled:

Users with your company email domain will be able to log in to Billy using Microsoft instead of a password. If a vendor or user becomes non-compliant (for example, an expired COI), your internal access policies can be aligned with their compliance status.

How to Enable Microsoft Login

Step 1: Locate Your Microsoft Entra Tenant ID

  1. Log in to the Azure Portal

  2. Navigate to Microsoft Entra ID

  3. Copy your Tenant ID

Step 2: Grant Admin Consent

Since the Billy Microsoft Entra client application is not listed in the Entra/Azure Marketplace, an Azure administrator from your organization will need to complete this one-time authorization using a direct link. Individual users do not need to do this.

https://login.microsoftonline.com/YOUR-ENTRA-TENANT-ID/adminconsent?client_id=860baec6-e7d5-4670-89f3-2e57ef97c041&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fapp.billyforinsurance.com%2Fauth%2Fmicrosoft%2Fcallback

Replace:

YOUR-ENTRA-TENANT-ID

with your organization's actual Tenant ID.

This link will open a Microsoft prompt to authorize the Billy app. After consent is granted, you will be redirected to the Billy login page. The admin does not need to log in to Billy or use the application at this stage. No further action is required at this time.

Step 3: Billy Configuration Update

Once permissions are granted:

A Billy engineer will update your organization's configuration so that users with your company email domain see a Login with Microsoft option after entering their email.

Password login will be disabled for these users.

Important Notes:

No Auto-Provisioning
This integration does not automatically create Billy accounts. A Billy administrator must still manually invite users.

User Invitations
When invited to Billy, users will be prompted to accept the invitation using their Microsoft Entra credentials.
