Overview
Once you've added questions to a Custom Form, you may want to change the order in which they appear — either within a section or across different sections. Instead of deleting and recreating questions, Billy's Reorder Questions feature lets you drag and drop questions into any order directly from a single view.
This is especially useful when:
You've added new questions and want to insert them between existing ones.
You want to move a question from one section to another (e.g., move a question from Company Information to a Safety section).
You're refining the flow of your Prequalification Form before publishing it.
How to Reorder Questions
To reorder questions in a Custom Form:
Go to Settings in the left-hand navigation.
Click Custom Forms under Team Settings.
Click Edit on the form you want to update.
In the Form Sections area, click the Reorder Questions button in the top-right corner of the section.
A modal will open titled Reorder Questions Across Sections, showing all questions organized by section.
Click and drag the handle icon (≡) next to any question to move it to a new position — within the same section or into a different section entirely.
Once you're satisfied with the order, close the modal and click Save Changes to apply your updates.
💡 Tip: Each question in the reorder view shows its field name and question type (e.g., vendor_name Text, vendor_address Address), making it easy to identify questions even if the question labels look similar. |
What You Can Do in the Reorder View
The Reorder Questions Across Sections modal gives you a complete, scrollable list of all your form's questions, grouped by section. From here you can:
Reorder within a section — drag a question up or down to change its position within the same section.
Move across sections — drag a question from one section (e.g., Company Information) into a completely different section further down the form.
Preview the full structure — see all questions and sections in one place, making it easier to spot gaps or logical ordering issues before your form goes live.
📌 Note: Reordering questions does not change any question settings, required status, field mappings, or conditional logic. Only the display order is affected. |
Don't Forget to Save
Changes made in the Reorder Questions modal are not saved automatically. After closing the modal, always click Save Changes in the top-right corner of the Edit Form page to confirm your new question order.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reorder sections themselves, not just questions?
The Reorder Questions modal is for reordering questions within and across sections. To rename or reorganize sections, edit them directly in the Form Sections area of the Edit Form page.
Will reordering questions affect a form that's already been submitted by vendors?
No. Reordering questions only affects the presentation of the form going forward. It does not alter any previously submitted responses.
Can I reorder questions on a Published form?
Yes. You can reorder questions on both Draft and Published forms. Just remember to click Save Changes after reordering to apply the update to the live form.
