What is a Source Material?

A source material is a piece of information that you add to your Blaze workspace so that Blaze has more knowledge about your business, products, and services and you can select to use it to create content with better accuracy and effectiveness.

Examples of Source Materials

Common examples of source materials include:

  • The history of your business

  • Specific information about your products

  • Your company's values

  • The benefits, features, and value of your products

  • Positioning documents

  • Industry whitepapers

Accepted Formats

Source materials can be added to Blaze via:

  • Website URL (must be a publicly accessible URL)

  • Freeform or copy-and-pasted text

  • A document in your Blaze workspace

  • Uploaded files (accepted formats include PDX, TXT, and Markdown)

Note: Source materials are limited to the first 16,000 characters (~4,000 words)

How to create a Source Material

  1. From the home screen, click on Knowledge in the left navigation.

  2. Here you can see all the Source Materials you have created. Click the + Add Source Material button.

  3. Write a descriptive name for the source material and choose how you will add the content: URL, text, document, or upload.

  4. Blaze will analyze all the text and create the source material.

  5. The source material will be added to the Knowledge page. You can edit and delete any source material by hovering over the source material and clicking the three dots (•••) to open the menu.

Tip: Source materials are shared with every user of your workspace, so label them appropriately so any user would know what it will include.

How to use a Source Material

When creating content, select the source materials that would be most-useful for that piece of content. You can select multiple source materials.
