Transactions from trading futures or other contracts are mostly imported via API. Depending on the exchange, there are limitations, so the trading history can no longer be retrieved via API. In that case, you import the data manually, individually or collectively with the Blockpit Excel template.

👁️ In Blockpit, the Derivative PnL (profit and loss) consists of the Closed PnL and the fees. The Closed PnL is only issued once a position has been closed. Which transactions you import depends heavily on the exchange. The limitations per exchange are described in the Blockpit guides.
The availability of simple spot market trades or transfers between exchanges and wallets can also be limited. They are usually easier to import manually than the Derivative PnL.
What is a Derivative PnL?
Derivatives are traded in futures and contract trading. The trading history appears as PnL (profit and loss). Blockpit records the Closed PnL and the fees. The following scheme generally applies:
Component | When does it occur? | Blockpit label |
Opening Fee | when the position is opened |
|
Funding Fees | on an ongoing basis, positive or negative |
|
Closed PnL | when the position is closed, may already include all fees |
|
Closing Fee | when the position is closed, sometimes already included in the Closed PnL |
|
Blockpit provides the labels Derivative Profit/Loss/Fee for the corresponding transactions.
If the Closed PnL of your exchange already includes the fees, do not record them again separately.
Where do I get my missing data?
Most exchanges allow you to download the entire transaction history of all products as a CSV or XLS file. Download these histories as a backup at least every 3 months, because their availability can be limited as well.
Example: migrating Bybit CSV data to the Blockpit XLS template
⚠️ On upload, Blockpit checks for duplicates within the same integration and skips transactions that are not newer than the newest existing one. Still, do not upload the same file several times into different integrations, otherwise you get duplicate transactions.
