Sync and re-sync: reload transactions

Blockpit has two ways to reload transactions: the Sync for new transactions and the Re-Sync for missing ones. Which one you need depends on whether something new should be added or a gap in the past should be closed.

🔄 Sync

⏪ Re-Sync

🔁 Single transaction

Loads

new transactions

missing transactions

one blockchain transaction, reloaded from the network

Period

from the last existing transaction

from the start date of the integration

only this one transaction

Start

“Sync All” or sync icon 🔄

⋮ › “Sync Missing Transactions”

Transactions › ⋮ of the row › “Resync Transaction”

When?

regularly, before every evaluation

when something is missing or should be reloaded

when exactly one transaction was imported incorrectly or incompletely

Risk

none

duplicates for manually created transactions

your own labels, notes and asset values of this transaction are lost

Sync: load new transactions

Exchange, Blockchain and Wallet integrations fetch new transactions automatically or at the push of a button. Blockpit only imports what happened after the last existing transaction.

You start the sync manually in the Dashboard on the Integrations tab:

▸ for all integrations at once via Sync All

▸ for a single integration via its sync icon 🔄

✨ Blockpit Plus: With Plus, Blockpit synchronizes your integrations automatically once a day, and you can update all of them at once with Sync All. You can always start the sync of individual integrations via the 🔄 icon free of charge.

Re-Sync: reload missing transactions

The Re-Sync searches the entire period of your integration, from the start date or from the first available transaction, and reloads everything that is missing.

Start it in the Dashboard (the Integrations tab): Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the integration and select Sync Missing Transactions.

When does a Re-Sync help, and when does it not?

Blockpit recognizes every transaction by its unique ID, for example the transaction hash (visible in the Advanced Transaction Details). A Re-Sync only loads transactions whose ID no longer exists in Blockpit.

✅ A Re-Sync helps with:

▸ transactions that were missing during the first import

▸ transactions you have permanently deleted

▸ incorrectly imported transactions after you have permanently deleted them

⛔ A Re-Sync does not help with:

▸ transactions you soft deleted or marked as spam. Their ID still exists. You can find them via the filter View: Deleted / Spam and restore them there.

Reload missing and permanently deleted transactions

The Re-Sync imports only transactions that the integration can deliver at all. What it covers is listed in the import scope of your integration.

Once the Re-Sync has finished, sort the transactions by Newest Imported. This shows you exactly what was newly added:

Resync a single transaction

If exactly one blockchain transaction was imported incorrectly or incompletely, you do not have to reload the whole integration. You can resync this one transaction directly in the transaction list. Blockpit loads it with the current data from the network, without deleting it and without a sync of the integration.

1️⃣ Open Transactions and find the transaction, for example with the filters or the transaction ID.

2️⃣ Click the three-dot menu ⋮ in the row and choose Resync Transaction.

3️⃣ Confirm the notice. Blockpit reloads the transaction.

⚠️ Caution: Your own labels, notes and asset values on this transaction are lost in the process, and this cannot be undone. Set them again afterwards if needed. The function only exists for blockchain transactions, not for UTXO chains such as Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin. For those, use the method below (permanently delete and Re-Sync).

Reload incorrectly imported transactions

If Blockpit improves an integration, your already imported transactions do not change. This keeps existing histories and reports stable.

💡 Tip: For a single blockchain transaction it is easier: with Resync Transaction in the ⋮ menu of the transaction, Blockpit reloads it in one step, without deleting it and without a Re-Sync of the integration. Your own labels, notes and asset values on this transaction are lost in the process. You mainly need the method below where this function is missing, for example for Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin.

If you want to reload an older transaction with the improved import, first delete it permanently and then start the Re-Sync.

⚠️ Caution: Only permanently deleted transactions are reloaded, soft deleted ones are not. You should therefore only soft delete spam and scam transactions or mark them as spam, never delete them permanently. Otherwise the next Re-Sync brings them back.

❗ Caution: Duplicates

If you have already created transactions manually, or the exchange has changed its ID structure, a Re-Sync can create duplicates. So first check which transactions you have added manually and, if necessary, restrict the start date of the integration (see below).

Set the start date of your integration

📆 The Re-Sync always starts from the start date that you chose when creating the integration, or from the first available transaction (Full History).

When should I change the start date?

If you have already submitted tax reports for earlier years, set the start date to the beginning of the period you want to reload. This way the old years and their reports stay unchanged.

Example: Re-Sync from 01.01.2025. Open the integration in the Dashboard and change its start date:

Typical mistakes

✗ Permanently deleting spam → the next Re-Sync brings it back

✗ Starting a Re-Sync although transactions were created manually → duplicates, new Tips

✗ Trying to restore soft deleted transactions via Re-Sync → does not work, they are under View: Deleted / Spam

✗ Setting the start date before years that were already submitted → old tax reports can change

Frequently asked questions

How often does Blockpit sync automatically?

With Blockpit Plus, once a day. Without Plus, you start the sync of individual integrations yourself via the 🔄 icon, free of charge and at any time.

I started a Re-Sync but did not see anything new. Why?

Either nothing was missing, or the transactions are outside what the integration can deliver (see import scope), or they were only soft deleted. Sort by Newest Imported to see what was added.

Does a Re-Sync change my edited transactions?

No. A Re-Sync only loads transactions whose ID is missing in Blockpit. Existing transactions, including edited ones, stay as they are.

Do I have to re-sync the whole integration for a single wrong transaction?

No. For blockchain transactions, Resync Transaction in the ⋮ menu of the transaction is enough. Your own labels, notes and asset values of this one transaction are lost in the process. For Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin the function does not exist: permanently delete the transaction and start the Re-Sync.
