Mark spam assets and restore them

Scam tokens often land in your wallet unasked. If you mark them as spam, they disappear from your holdings and your tax report. The important thing is not to catch a real asset by mistake.

Automatic spam detection

Blockpit automatically checks newly imported assets for typical spam indicators, for example suspicious names, promotional links or known fraudulent smart contracts.

You can switch this on or off in the Settings (gear icon) under Account Settings with the option Auto-Detect Spam Tokens.

⚠️ What happens when you mark something

If you mark an asset or transaction as spam, Blockpit removes all holdings, values and transactions of this asset in all integrations and moves them to the spam folder. They no longer count for your tax report, and future transactions of this asset are filtered as spam automatically.

Mark an asset as spam

1️⃣ Open the Holdings tab in the Dashboard.

2️⃣ Open the context menu of the affected asset and select Mark as Spam.

3️⃣ The asset moves immediately to the Spam Assets folder at the very bottom of your holdings list. Its transactions disappear from the active list and are found under the filter View: Deleted / Spam.

⛔ Dust is not spam

Tiny amounts of real cryptocurrencies, for example leftovers of BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, XLM or SOL from trades or fees, are never spam.

▸ Why? If you mark a real asset as spam, you remove its entire history from all wallets and exchanges. Holdings and tax report are then wrong.

▸ Instead: Label genuine tiny inflows that are not scams as Airdrop or Non-Taxable (In).

Remove the spam mark

Marked an asset by mistake? This is how you get it back with all its transactions:

1️⃣ Scroll to the very bottom of your holdings to the Spam Assets folder.

2️⃣ Click Remove from Spam Folder on the asset.

3️⃣ The asset and all its transactions are back immediately and count again for holdings and tax report.

You can find the transactions at any time with the filter View = Spam in your transaction list.

Typical mistakes

✗ Marked dust of real coins as spam → the coin's whole history is gone, holdings and report are wrong

✗ Deleted spam permanently instead of marking it → the next re-sync imports it again
