How to Upload and Edit Your General Ledger Accounts

Learn how to upload and edit your general ledger accounts using a simple CSV file or manually add new accounts in the application.

Uploading Your General Ledger Accounts

To be able to map your general ledger accounts, our system requires a simple three-column CSV file. Follow the steps below to complete the upload process:

  1. Navigate to the General Ledger Accounts page

    • Expand the Journal Entries section of the side menu bar

    • Select the General Ledger Accounts page

  2. Download the CSV Template

    • On the General Ledger Accounts, select to download the CSV template.

    • This template provides the exact format needed, including three columns: Account Number, Account Name, and Currency.

  3. Prepare Your CSV File

    • Open the downloaded template in a spreadsheet editor.

    • Enter the relevant details for each general ledger account:

      • Account Number: Unique identifier for the account.

      • Account Name: Descriptive name of the account.

      • Currency: The currency associated with the account.

    • Save the completed file in CSV format.

  4. Upload the CSV File

    • Returning to the General Ledger Account page, select upload General Ledger Accounts.

    • Select your prepared CSV file.

    • Once the upload is complete, your chart of accounts will be added to the system.

Editing Your General Ledger Accounts

If you need to modify or expand your chart of accounts after the initial upload, you have two options:

Option 1: Reupload a New Chart of Accounts

  • Simply prepare an updated CSV file and upload it again following the steps outlined above.

  • The new upload will overwrite or add any new accounts as needed.

Option 2: Manually Add Individual Accounts

  • If you only need to add a few new accounts, you can do so manually:

    • Return to the General Ledger Accounts page.

    • Enter the Account Number, Account Name, and Currency for the new account in the availabe input fields.

    • Press add, and it will be available in the system immediately.

By following these steps, you can create and manage your general ledger accounts, ensuring you have all the necessary accounts available to map to your templates.
