How to Connect to Stripe Payment Gateway
Integrating a Stripe payment gateway is a seamless process enabling you to efficiently take digital payments via credit card or ACH within the Boatyard dashboard.
Watch this video or follow these step-by-step instructions to ensure a smooth and successful setup!
Step 1: Connecting the Stripe Payment Gateway.
Click on your account icon located in the top right corner of your Boatyard dashboard, next to your name.
βSelect the "Settings" option from the dropdown menu.
βScroll down past your profile settings and click on the "Connect Payment Gateway" option at the bottom.
βChoose the Stripe option, and select if you would like to use Stripe for credit card payments, ACH payments or both.
Next, you will be asked to select your currency and then directed to the Stripe setup screen.
Step 2: Setting up your Stripe Account
Note: Please make sure to complete Step 2 to create your account. If you close the Stripe window before completing these steps, you will need to start again.
Once on the Stripe setup screen, enter your email address and click "Continue."
βCreate a secure password that contains at least 10 characters, including a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.
βVerify the password strength and proceed by clicking on "Continue."
βSet up the Google Authenticator app on your phone and scan the QR code to add your account to the app. (Click here for more information about 2-factor authentication in Stripe.)
βEnter the authentication code to proceed.
βSave your account backup code in a secure place. This is a critical step to make sure you can access your payment account at a later date.

Step 3: Follow the Stripe set-up and enter all pertinent business information as requested.
Note: You can stop during the business set-up phase if you need to gather additional business information. If you are not able to complete the business setup flow in one go, please see the section below on how to connect your account.
Select your location and business type. You will then enter the information for your business to set up the account.
Next, enter your bank account details by logging into your online account or entering your banking information.
βThe next section is the information that will be displayed on your customer's credit card or bank statements. Fill in the statement descriptor and a shortened descriptor for your business.
βEnter customer support details, including phone number and support address.
βChoose whether you want to contribute to the Stripe climate initiative and select your preferred percentage if so.

Step 4: Review and Submit
Review all the provided information, ensure accuracy, and agree to the terms and conditions.
βSubmit the information and await redirection back to the Boatyard dashboard.
Step 5: Verification and Additional Information
Check your email for a verification email from Stripe and click on the verification link to confirm your email address.
βLog back into your Boatyard dashboard and navigate to the settings page to ensure the pending tag has disappeared.
βComplete any additional information requests from Stripe to clear any remaining red banners on your Stripe dashboard. Payments will not be processed correctly until this final step is complete.

Your Stripe account is now successfully connected to your Boatyard dashboard, and you are all set to process payments seamlessly. What if I have to stop during the Stripe account setup process?
It's not a problem if you need to pause during the business set-up process to gather documents and information.
Please follow the steps below to connect your Stripe account to Boatyard if you need to pause during the set-up process.
Ensure you have completed the initial account creation up to the step with the authenticator app and received the account code.
Striped will send an email to verify your email address. Use this email to log into your account and verify your email address.
Continue the business set-up steps and provide the required information.
Once your Stripe account set-up is completed, return to your Boatyard dashboard and go to the Settings page.
Reconnect to your new Stripe payment gateway by clicking on the "Connect Payment Gateway" button and selecting Stripe again.
You'll be redirected to your Stripe account. Follow the steps to connect Stripe, confirm information, and review.
After confirming, Stripe will redirect you back to the dashboard. If the account still shows as pending, update any additional information needed in your Stripe account.
Refresh the settings page to ensure the account is connected successfully!
