To keep your parts inventory organized, we recommend setting up all of your storage locations in Boatyard before adding your inventory. This ensures each part can be quickly located and managed properly.

This should be done before adding your parts inventory into your Boatyard account.

From your Boatyard Dashboard, you'll use the navigation menu to the left to navigate ➡️ Parts and then ➡️ Inventory.

From the inventory page, click on the Actions button in the top right corner, and then select Storage Locations.

This will open up a pop-up that allows you to search in your existing storage locations, or add a new storage location.

In the pop-up, see your existing storage locations, and you'll be able to add a new storage location.

Type the name of the storage location. Be as specific as possible so that anyone can easily locate a part from your Boatyard inventory and retrieve it.

Examples include:
Shelf A1
Shelf A2
Shelf B1
Metal Rack - Top Left
Metal Rack - Bottom Right
Back Wall Shelf
Parts Cabinet 1
Parts Cabinet 2
Cabinet Drawer 1 - Electrical
Cabinet Drawer 2 - Plumbing
Cabinet Drawer 3 - Hardware
Bin 1 - Screws and Bolts
Bin 2 - Wire Connectors
Bin 3 - Paint Supplies

After naming the location, set the storage type to either stock or reserve.

  1. Stock: Items that are readily available for immediate use or sale.

  2. Reserve: Items that are kept in reserve for special use cases or future needs.

🎉After that, hit save and you are done!
