Before a Lesson takes place, Bobbin can help you build a structured Lesson Plan using AI. Lesson Plans are available for any Lesson in the Planned stage.
Generating a Lesson Plan
Open the Lesson from your Lessons list or Dashboard
Click Create Lesson Plan
This opens the AI editor, where you can enter a prompt and AI will generate the Lesson Plan for you. If you'd rather write your own, you can use the plain text editor instead.
You don't have to start from a blank prompt. Some suggested prompts are offered for you to pick and edit, and there are Writing Tips alongside the box if you'd rather write your own.
Planning from the Course Outline
If the Lesson was created from a Course, you can choose which objectives from the Course Outline this session should cover, and have Bobbin build the plan around them. It's usually quicker than describing the session from scratch, and it keeps the plan tied to what's still left to teach.
Where your Student's last Progress Report included Next steps, those are fed into the plan too, so it picks up from what you agreed last time rather than starting over.
What the Lesson Plan includes
Bobbin generates a structured plan based on the Course Outline (if one exists) and the Student's needs. A typical Lesson Plan covers:
Learning Objectives — what the Student should achieve by the end of the session
Lesson Structure — a timed breakdown including warm-up, guided practice, independent work, and wrap-up
Understanding Checks — suggested ways to check the Student's comprehension during the session
Extra Study Suggestions — optional follow-up activities or resources
Note: The exact shape of a plan depends on the AI content style your organization has chosen. The default produces the sectioned plan described above; other styles give you a timed, block-by-block run-sheet to follow during the Lesson, or a shorter plan that fits on one screen. Your Administrator sets this for the whole organization, and it applies to plans generated from then on rather than rewriting ones you already have.
Editing a Lesson Plan
You can edit any section of the generated plan by hovering over the content and clicking Edit. Changes are saved automatically.
Asking the AI to refine a section keeps it in the shape it already has, so an edit won't reformat the rest of your plan.
Note: If Bobbin can't produce usable content for a section, nothing is saved over what's already there and you'll be asked to try again — so an edit that doesn't work can't wipe what you'd written.
Downloading a Lesson Plan as a PDF
You can download a Lesson Plan as a PDF to print it or share it offline by clicking the three dots on the Lesson Plan page. Both Administrators and the Tutor assigned to the Lesson can download the plan.
Note: Lesson Plans are visible to Tutors and Administrators. They are not shared with Students or Clients.
