Email Notifications

Understand the emails Bobbin sends you and how to change them.

Written by Raashi Thakran

Bobbin can keep you updated by email so you don't have to log in to stay informed. This article explains the emails you may receive and how to change them.

The emails you may receive

Depending on how your tutoring provider has set things up, Bobbin can send you these emails about each of your Students:

  • New Lesson scheduled — sent when a Lesson is booked, so you know it's in the diary

  • Lesson reminders — sent shortly before a Lesson starts. Times are shown in your own timezone, so there's nothing to work out if you and the Tutor are in different places.

  • Lesson rescheduled or canceled — sent if the time of a Lesson changes, or if it's called off

  • Lesson Report emails — sent after a Lesson is completed, so you get the Report without having to log in

  • Attendance emails — sent shortly after a Lesson starts, showing who joined and who didn't

Report and Attendance emails are set separately for each Student, so if you have more than one Student you can end up receiving different emails for each one.

Note: Many tutoring providers run their scheduling in a separate system alongside Bobbin. If yours does, your emails about Lessons being booked, moved or coming up are sent from there rather than from Bobbin, so they may look a little different to your Lesson Report emails. Either way they're from your provider, and they can change them for you.

Reports attached as PDFs

Your Lesson Report email always includes a short summary and a link to view the full Report online. Some providers also attach the Report as a PDF, so you have a copy you can save or print without signing in.

Your provider can email you a Progress Report as a PDF too — sometimes with your Student's individual Lesson Reports for the same period in the same file. If you'd find that useful, just ask them.

Changing your notifications

Email notification preferences are managed by your tutoring provider, not from your own Client account. This is so providers can set them up in a way that suits how they work with families.

If you'd like to start or stop receiving any of these emails — for one Student or all of them — contact your tutoring provider and they can adjust the settings for you. Report and Attendance emails can be changed for an individual Student, while reminders, scheduling notices and reschedule notices are set for everyone at the organization at once.

Note: Turning off an email notification doesn't remove the information from Bobbin. You can still sign in and see the Lesson, Report or Attendance record at any time.

Who your emails come from

Emails about your Lessons — such as Lesson Reports and review requests — are sent from your tutoring provider's email address. Emails about your account, such as verifying your email or setting a password, come from Bobbin's own address. Either way they keep your provider's branding, so it's clear who they're from.
