We’ve rolled out several updates focused on improving security, reducing spam, fixing bugs, and enhancing Giving Day experiences. Here’s what’s new:
Stronger Email Verification for Fundraisers
To help reduce spam and protect your campaigns, we’ve strengthened our email verification process.
P2P Fundraiser Email Verification (Giving Days)
When signing up as a P2P fundraiser on a Giving Day site:
Users enter their name and email.
They receive a verification email with a code.
They must enter the code before continuing registration.
This added step helps ensure real fundraisers are signing up—and keeps your campaign data cleaner.
Blocking Disposable Email Domains
We are now preventing P2P and Free Agent Fundraisers (FAF) from signing up with temporary or disposable email domains.
Applies to: P2P and FAF registrations
Helps reduce spam accounts and fraudulent signups
May be expanded to additional GiveGab signup flows in the future
If a blocked domain is used, registration will fail with a generic error message (intentionally designed not to provide clues to bad actors).
Additional Anti-Spam Improvements
We’ve made several updates to close gaps in older registration flows:
Business Fundraisers now use the general GiveGab signup form
(Previously, they used a separate form that skipped email confirmation.)P2P fundraisers for non-Giving Day campaigns now also use the general signup flow.
The general signup form now:
Rejects disposable email domains
Displays a new “Verify Email” screen after form submission
Previously, users were redirected to the login page immediately after signup—which was confusing, since they couldn’t log in until verifying their email. The new screen clearly instructs them to check their inbox first.
These updates significantly reduce spam while improving clarity for legitimate users.
Bug Fixes
We’ve addressed a few important issues:
Donation Form “Back” Button Fixed
The Back button on the first step of the Giving Day donation form is now working correctly after being broken for the past couple of months.
Offline Donations – Campaign Attribution Fix
Campaigns that do not have a public profile page will now correctly appear in the “Attribute to Campaign” dropdown when entering an offline donation.
Security Enhancements (PCI Follow-Up)
We’ve completed follow-up work related to PCI security updates from late last year.
Customer-facing changes are minimal and subtle—for example:
Form fields inside modals now automatically focus as expected when opened.
These updates improve overall platform security and usability without changing workflows.
