How to add a custom email to your domain in Bookipi AI Website Builder

Learn how to send and receive emails from your own domain, like hello@yourbusiness.com, using Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, or another provider.

Adding a custom email connects your existing email provider to your Bookipi domain, so you can send and receive emails that match your business name instead of a personal or generic address.

When you'll need this

  • Sending emails from your own domain: so customers see hello@yourbusiness.com instead of a personal Gmail or Outlook address.

  • Looking more professional: a branded email address builds more trust than a free email account.

  • Connecting an email provider you already use: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, or another provider that offers custom domain email.

You'll need an active account with one of these providers before you start. If you don't have one yet, sign up with your chosen provider first, then come back to finish this setup.

Steps

Step 1: Click 'Website'

Access the 'Website' option in the left-hand panel of the Bookipi Web app.

Step 2: Click 'Domain'

From the tabs at the top of your website page, select 'Domain'.

Step 3: Click 'Add email' under 'Add custom email'

Scroll down to the 'More' section and find the 'Add custom email' card.

Step 4: Choose your email provider

Select the provider you use: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, or Somewhere else if your provider isn't listed.

What happens next depends on which provider you choose.

If you use Google Workspace or Zoho Mail

Bookipi sets up your basic email records automatically. You'll then be asked for one more step, a DKIM record, to fully verify your setup.

For Google Workspace:

  1. Open Google Admin and go to Apps, then Google Workspace, then Gmail.

  2. Select Authenticate email.

  3. Click Generate new record.

  4. Copy the record value.

For Zoho Mail:

  1. Open Zoho Mail Admin and go to Domains.

  2. Select your domain, then open the DKIM tab.

  3. Click Generate.

  4. Copy the record value.

Paste the record into Bookipi and click 'Verify'. If you're not ready, click 'Skip for now', you can finish this step later from the same card.

If you use Microsoft 365

Enter your Microsoft 365 tenant domain, the address ending in .onmicrosoft.com.

To find it:

  1. Open the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre.

  2. Go to Settings, then Domains.

  3. Look for the address ending in .onmicrosoft.com and copy it.

Paste it in and click 'Continue'. Microsoft 365 sets up DKIM automatically, so there's no separate record to paste.

If you use another provider

Paste the email records your provider gave you.

To find them:

  1. Sign in to your email provider's admin or settings page.

  2. Find the DNS or email setup section.

  3. Copy the MX, TXT, or CNAME records.

Paste them in and click 'Continue'.

Once your records are added, your custom email is ready to use.

FAQs

Q: Can I switch providers later?

A: Yes. Choose a different provider from the same card. Switching stops emails arriving at your old provider, so make sure you're ready before you confirm the switch.

Q: What happens if I skip the DKIM step?

A: Your email records are still set up and email will still work, but skipping DKIM means your setup isn't fully verified. You can come back and finish it anytime from the same card.

Q: How long does setup take?

A: This depends on your provider, but domain changes can take up to 48 hours to fully take effect. Most of the time it's much faster.

Q: Do I need an existing email account first?

A: Yes. You'll need an account with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, or another provider before you connect it here. Bookipi doesn't create the email account for you, only the connection.

Q: My provider isn't Google, Microsoft, or Zoho, what do I do?

A: Choose 'Somewhere else' and paste the records your provider's admin page gives you.
