What Are Additional Question Types?
Additional question types are a BoomScreen feature that allows property managers to ask applicants custom, non-standard questions as part of the screening application. These questions go beyond BoomScreen's default screening fields and can be tailored to your specific property or portfolio requirements.
BoomScreen currently supports four types of custom questions:
Plain text — the applicant types a free-form written response to the question.
Yes/No — the applicant selects either "Yes" or "No" in response to the question.
Options (Multiple choice) — the applicant selects one or more answers from a list of options you define.
Document Upload — the applicant will be able to upload a document.
Additional questions can be asked of applicants, guarantors, and occupants.

Go to Screening settings.
Select the template you want to edit, or create a new template.

Once the toggle is enabled, you can begin creating custom questions for that template.
How to Create a Custom Question
After enabling additional questions in your template, follow these steps to create each question:
Click "Add additional question"
Select the question type:
Plain text — for open-ended written responses.
Yes/No — for binary yes or no responses.
Options — for multiple choice responses. Enter the answer options you want to offer the applicant.
Document upload — for collecting additional documents from the applicant.
Enter the question that you would like to ask.
Select whether the question is required or optional:
If required, the applicant must answer this question before they can submit their application.
If optional, the applicant can skip the question and still submit their application.
The Name field will match the Question by default, but you can update the Name of the question for your internal team.
Repeat Steps 1-5 for each question that you would like to ask applicants.
Click Save to add the question(s) to the template.
