What Is the PetScreening Integration?

BoomScreen integrates with PetScreening, a third-party animal screening service, to allow property managers to include animal screening results directly within the BoomScreen application report. When the integration is enabled, applicants are prompted to complete PetScreening's animal screening process as part of their rental application, and the results are automatically surfaced in their BoomScreen report.

This integration consolidates all screening results in one place, streamlining the animal screening process for both applicants and leasing teams.

Note: You must have an existing PetScreening account to use this integration. If you do not have an account, see the FAQ section below for instructions on how to create one.

What Information Do You Need to Set Up the Integration?

Before enabling the PetScreening integration in BoomScreen, you will need the following information from your PetScreening account:

  • Screening URL β€” your PetScreening property screening link.

If you are unsure where to find your Screening URL, contact PetScreening support for assistance.

How to Enable the PetScreening Integration

The PetScreening integration must be enabled separately for each screening template and each applicant role (such as applicant and occupant) that should receive the animal screening link. Follow these steps for each template and role you want to configure:

  1. Go to Screening settings in the Boom Partner Platform.

  2. Select the screening template you want to configure.

  3. Locate the "Animal screening report" toggle and click to turn it ON.

  4. Enter your Screening URL from your PetScreening account.

  5. Click "Save" to apply the integration settings.

Repeat these steps for each template and each role that should receive the animal screening link.

Important: If you want both applicants and occupants to receive the animal screening link, you must enable animal screening separately for each role within the template β€” enabling it for applicants does not automatically enable it for occupants, and vice versa.

How PetScreening Data Appears in BoomScreen

Once the integration is enabled and an applicant has submitted their application, PetScreening data will appear in the applicant's BoomScreen report under the "Animal screening" section.

How BoomScreen syncs PetScreening data:

  • BoomScreen automatically checks for updated PetScreening data every 15 minutes.

  • You can also manually trigger a data sync at any time by clicking the "Sync" button in the Animal screening section of the applicant's report.

Important limitations on when BoomScreen checks for PetScreening data:

  • BoomScreen only pulls PetScreening data for applications that have been fully submitted. If an applicant has not yet submitted their application, BoomScreen will not attempt to retrieve their PetScreening data.

  • If an application has already been decisioned or cancelled, BoomScreen will not attempt to refresh the PetScreening data for that application.

Frequently Asked Questions About the PetScreening Integration

What if I don't have a PetScreening account?

If you do not yet have a PetScreening account, you can create one at www.petscreening.com. Once your account is set up, return to BoomScreen and follow the setup steps above to enable the integration. You will need your Screening URL from your new PetScreening account to complete the setup.

Where do I find my Screening URL?

Your Screening URL is located within your PetScreening account settings. If you have difficulty locating it, contact your Boom account manager for assistance.

I just updated my screening template to include PetScreening. Will all of my current applicants now be asked to complete animal screening?

No. Only new applicants who are invited to apply after the template change is saved will be prompted to complete the PetScreening animal screening process. Applicants who started their application before the template was updated will not be prompted to complete animal screening, and their PetScreening data will not appear in BoomScreen.

An applicant used different email addresses for their BoomScreen application and their PetScreening questionnaire. Will this cause a problem?

Yes, this will cause a problem. BoomScreen uses email addresses to match applicants' BoomScreen application data with their PetScreening animal screening data. If the email address the applicant used in BoomScreen does not exactly match the email address they used to complete the PetScreening questionnaire, BoomScreen will not be able to retrieve their PetScreening data.
