What Is the OurPetPolicy Integration?
BoomScreen integrates with OurPetPolicy, a third-party animal screening service, to allow property managers to include animal screening results directly within the BoomScreen application report. When the integration is enabled, applicants are prompted to complete OurPetPolicy's animal screening process as part of their rental application, and the results are automatically surfaced in their BoomScreen report.
This integration is designed to streamline the animal screening process for both applicants and leasing teams by consolidating all screening results in one place.
Note: You must have an existing OurPetPolicy account to use this integration. If you do not have an account, see the FAQ section below for instructions on how to create one.
What Information Do You Need to Set Up the Integration?
Before enabling the OurPetPolicy integration in BoomScreen, you will need the following information from OurPetPolicy:
Screening URL — your OurPetPolicy property screening link.
Property Management ID — your unique identifier in the OurPetPolicy system.
If you are unsure where to find either of these, contact your Customer Success Manager for assistance or reach out to: support@boompay.app.
How to Enable the OurPetPolicy Integration
The OurPetPolicy integration must be enabled separately for each screening template and each applicant role (such as applicant and occupant) that should receive the animal screening link. Follow these steps for each template and role you want to configure:
Go to Screening settings in the Boom Partner Platform.
Select the screening template you want to configure.
Locate the "Animal screening report" toggle and click to turn it ON.
Enter your Screening URL from your OurPetPolicy account.
Enter your Property Management ID from your OurPetPolicy account.
Click "Save" to apply the integration settings.
Repeat these steps for each template and each role that should receive the animal screening link.
Important: If you want both applicants and occupants to receive the animal screening link, you must enable animal screening separately for each role within the template — enabling it for applicants does not automatically enable it for occupants, and vice versa.
How OurPetPolicy Data Appears in BoomScreen
Once the integration is enabled and an applicant has submitted their application, OurPetPolicy data will appear in the applicant's BoomScreen report under a new section called "Animal screening."
How BoomScreen syncs OurPetPolicy data:
BoomScreen automatically checks for updated OurPetPolicy data every 15 minutes.
You can also manually trigger a data sync at any time by clicking the "Sync" button in the Animal screening section of the applicant's report.
Important limitations on when BoomScreen checks for OurPetPolicy data:
BoomScreen only pulls OurPetPolicy data for applications that have been fully submitted. If an applicant has not yet submitted their application, BoomScreen will not attempt to retrieve their OurPetPolicy data.
If an application has already been decisioned or cancelled, BoomScreen will not attempt to refresh the OurPetPolicy data for that application.
Frequently Asked Questions About the OurPetPolicy Integration
What if I don't have an OurPetPolicy account?
If you do not yet have an OurPetPolicy account, you can get started at www.ourpetpolicy.com. Once your account is set up, return to BoomScreen and follow the setup steps above to enable the integration. You will need your Screening URL and Property Management ID from OurPetPolicy to complete the setup.
Where do I find my Screening URL and Property Management ID?
Your Screening URL is located within your OurPetPolicy account settings. You may need to reach out to OurPetPolicy’s support team to get your property Management ID.
I just updated my screening template to include OurPetPolicy. Will all of my current applicants now be asked to complete animal screening?
No. Only applicants who start their application after the template change is saved will be prompted to complete the OurPetPolicy animal screening process. Applicants who started their application before the template was updated will not be prompted to complete animal screening and their OurPetPolicy data will not appear in BoomScreen.
An applicant used different email addresses for their BoomScreen application and their OurPetPolicy questionnaire. Will this cause a problem?
Yes, this will cause a problem. BoomScreen uses email addresses to match applicants' BoomScreen application data with their OurPetPolicy animal screening data. If the email address the applicant used in BoomScreen does not exactly match the email address they used to complete the OurPetPolicy questionnaire, BoomScreen will not be able to retrieve their OurPetPolicy data.
To resolve this, ask the applicant to confirm which email address they used for each platform and, if possible, have them re-complete the OurPetPolicy questionnaire using the same email address as their BoomScreen application.
Can I enable OurPetPolicy for some screening templates but not others?
Yes. The OurPetPolicy integration is configured at the individual screening template level. You can enable animal screening for specific templates while leaving it disabled for others, depending on which properties or portfolios require animal screening.
Will the OurPetPolicy integration work for occupants as well as applicants?
Yes, but animal screening must be enabled separately for each role. Enabling the OurPetPolicy integration for applicants does not automatically enable it for occupants. To include occupants in animal screening, go to the relevant screening template and enable the "Animal screening report" toggle specifically for the occupant role.
