Why Haven't I Received a Decision on My Rental Application?

This article is for applicants who have submitted a BoomScreen rental application and are waiting for a decision from the property management company.

The Two Requirements for Your Application to Be Reviewed

Before a property management company can review and make a decision on your application, two things must be completed:

  1. Your application and co-applicant’s applications must be fully submitted — all required sections of your BoomScreen application and any co-applicant or co-signer applications must be completed and submitted.

  2. All application fees must be paid — your application will not be sent to the property management company for review until you have checked out and paid the required application fee. This applies for co-applicants and co-signer/guarantor applications.

If either of these steps is incomplete, your application will not be reviewed and no decision will be made.

How to Check Whether Your Application Was Submitted and Paid

If you are unsure whether your application was fully submitted or whether your payment was completed, follow these steps to check:

  1. Go to the BoomScreen sign-in page: https://screen.boompay.app/auth/sign-in

  2. Enter the phone number or email address you used when you started your application.

  3. Enter the 6-digit one-time passcode (OTP) sent to you to log in.

  4. Once logged in, review your application status to confirm:

    • Whether all sections have been completed and submitted.

    • Whether the application fee has been paid and checkout was completed.

If your application shows as submitted and paid but you still have not received a decision, see the section below.

Other Reasons You May Not Have Received a Decision

If your application has been fully submitted and the fee has been paid, there are other reasons why you may not yet have received a decision:

  • The property management company is still reviewing your application — processing times vary by property management company. BoomScreen generates and delivers your screening report, but the decision itself is made by the property management company on their own timeline.

  • Additional information may be required — the property management company or Boom may need additional documents or information from you before a decision can be made. Check your email inbox (including your spam or junk folder) for any requests from Boom or the property management company.

  • Your co-applicant or guarantor has not yet completed their application — if you invited a co-applicant or guarantor to your application, some property management companies require all parties to submit before a decision is made. Check whether any invited co-applicants or guarantors have completed their portion.

How to Contact Boom If You Need Help

If you have checked your application status and are still unsure why you have not received a decision, contact Boom Support directly:

If you have questions about the status of your application decision specifically, you may also want to contact the property management company directly, as they are responsible for reviewing your report and making the final decision.

Frequently Asked Questions About Application Decisions

Will I be notified when a decision has been made on my application?

You should receive a notification when a decision has been made on your application. Check your email inbox — including your spam or junk folder — for any communication from Boom or the property management company regarding your application status. If you are unsure, log back into your BoomScreen application at https://screen.boompay.app/auth/sign-in to check your current status.

Can I get a refund on my application fee if I am not approved?

Application fee refund policies are set by the property management company, not by Boom. Contact the property management company directly to ask about their refund policy. See the article "How Much Does a BoomScreen Rental Application Cost?" for more information about application fees.

What if I paid the fee but my application still shows as incomplete?

If you believe you have paid the application fee but your application still shows as incomplete or unsubmitted, contact Boom Support at hello@boompay.app or via live chat so the team can investigate and resolve the issue.
