The Readers tab on a school's connected Stripe account lists the school's Stripe Terminal locations, with each location's readers underneath. Use it to add locations and readers, set deploy groups, and handle cellular billing.
Bound adds locations for schools. Schools don't add their own.
How the Readers Tab Works
Location header: the location's name, an edit button, a WiFi Only or Cellular tag, the reader count, and the address.
Reader rows: each reader is listed under its location, with edit and delete buttons.
Deploy Group: set on the location, not on each reader. It assigns the location to a Stripe deploy group, which puts the Bound gate and payment app on the location's readers and handles their software updates.
Inactive Readers: readers listed here need to be deleted and reconnected.
Cellular location fee: every reader on a Cellular location is charged $10.00 per month, in full even if it's on the location for a single day. Readers on S700 locations or WiFi only S710 locations have no extra charge.
Open a School's Readers Tab
Click Business in the left menu.
Click Stripe.
Click the edit button next to the account marked (Connected).
Click the Readers tab.
Add a Location
Every reader needs a location that matches its model. The S700 and S710 are the same reader, except only the S710 has cellular. A school usually needs one S700 location and, for S710 readers, one cellular and one WiFi only location. The address can be the school's office, since readers often move between sites.
On the Readers tab, click Add Location.
Fill in Name, Address, City, State, and Zipcode. All fields are required.
Name the location by type, with the school's name and state, such as "Cellular Ames HS IA S710 App," "WiFi Only Ames HS IA S710 App," or "Ames HS IA S700 Gate App." Start cellular location names with "Cellular," since the fee banner tells schools that's how to spot them.
If the location is for cellular S710 readers, turn on the Cellular Disabled toggle so it reads Cellular Enabled. It's off by default.
NOTE: Only enable cellular for cellular S710 locations. Every reader on a cellular location is charged $10.00 per month.
Select the Deploy Group that matches the location:
Cellular S710 location: Cellular S710
WiFi only S710 location: WiFi Only S710
S700 location: S700 Official Launch
Note: Testing and rollback groups are for product testing only. Readers at a location left Unassigned don't get the Bound gate and payment app.
Click Save.
Add a Reader
On the Readers tab, click Add Reader.
Enter a Name for the reader.
Select the Location.
Choose a location for the reader's model. An S700 on an S710 location, or an S710 on an S700 location, won't load the Bound gate app.
If the location is cellular, a window explains the $10.00 monthly fee. Click I Understand, Continue.
To pick a different location, click Change Location.
If the location is cellular, select the Account that will be billed for the cellular charges. This field appears only for cellular locations.
On the reader, type 0-7-1-3-9 to show a registration code. Enter the code in Registration Code.
Click Save.
Change a Location's Deploy Group
On the Readers tab, click the edit button next to the location's name.
Select the Deploy Group that matches the location, using the same groups listed in Add a Location.
Note: Changing the deploy group may affect when readers at this location get software updates.
Click Save.
Note: To delete a location, click Delete under Danger Zone on the same page. Delete is unavailable while readers are assigned to the location, so remove the readers first.
Move a Reader to a Different Location
A reader's Location is locked after the reader is added. To move it, delete the reader and pair it again at the new location.
On the Readers tab, click the red delete button in the reader's row.
In the confirmation, click OK.
Add the reader again, following the steps in Add a Reader and choosing the new location.
