Creating Brand Cards

Brand Cards are at the core of BrandKeep. Learn how to create them here.

Updated over a week ago

A Brand Card is where you keep all of a brand's information. This is where you will store important brands links that you utilize frequently (such as the B2B, media sites, payment portals, etc.). A Brand Card is also where you can add and view a brand's assets, notes, and contact information.

There are two different methods to create a brand card: either one at a time, or creating multiple brand cards using an import template.

Creating One Brand Card

To create a new Brand Card, navigate to the Brands dashboard. Click on the + Brand Card button. This will open the Edit Brand Card page.

Enter the name of the brand. This is the only required field to save a brand card.

Add a link to the brand’s marketing site, your store's account number, and your credit limit.

Add Quick Links:

  • Quick links appear on your Brand Card for quick access. If you view all of your brands in the list view you’ll also see the quick links. Add whatever links you use the most.

  • Note that if you add a URL, you must add a quick link name and vice-versa.

Add Tags:

  • Why tags? Tags are used for identifying brands by keyword making it easy to filter and locate any brands with that same keyword. For example, you may tag some brands as ‘snowsports’. Then when it’s time to order for the Fall, you can filter brands by ‘snowsports’ and view just those brands with that tag. Some tag recommendations are Apparel, Footwear, Snowsports, Camping, Hiking, Watersports, Beach,... you get the idea. Use tags that make it easy for you to view specific brands based on whatever criteria you’d like.

  • How to add a tag. To add a tag to a brand card, click on the pencil icon to edit the brand card. At the bottom of the Edit Brand Card screen you’ll see the Tags field. Go ahead and type in whatever you want as a tag. If you have previously added tags to a different brand card, you’ll see a list of all tags previously created. The tag will be applied to the brand card once you click Save.

    • Notes on adding tags:

      • Tags can be short or long, contain many words or one, but best practice is to keep a tag concise.

      • Spelling and capitalization matter. For instance, “Snowsports”, “snowsports”, “Snow Sports”, and “Snow sports” will all be different tags.

  • To remove or delete a tag from a brand card, click on the pencil icon to edit the brand card. At the bottom of the Edit Brand Card screen you’ll see the Tags field. Click on the ‘x’ next to the tag you would like to delete from your brand card. Then click Save for your changes to take effect.

Creating Multiple Brand Cards Using an Import Sheet

Using a BrandKeep import sheet you are able to complete a spreadsheet and import all brands at once.

To create many new Brand Cards, navigate to the Brands dashboard. Locate the + Brand Card button and click on the three vertical dots. Next click on Import Brand Cards.

Now, download the sample .csv template. This is the sheet you’ll use to populate brand information and then reimport back into BrandKeep.

Please note: The sequence of the columns must remain as they are on the spreadsheet.

The only column that is required is the Brand Name column. All others can be left blank if you do not have that information. You can always add these details later.

See above for information on Quick Links and Tags.

Once the brand information has been added to the import sheet, we recommend you save the sheet as a CSV UTF-8. This will allow any special characters to display as expected.

Drag your CSV from your files into the grey box on the import page. Then click on Next to proceed to the preview page.

On the preview page you will see a summary of how many new brands you are creating and how many existing brands are being updated. Here you can verify that your data is displaying as expected.

Note on updating brands: If you are updating any existing brands, data imported using the CSV will overwrite any data currently in BrandKeep. However, if you have empty row data on the CSV, it will be ignored and will not delete existing information.

If all the information looks correct, click on next to proceed with the import.

You’ll receive a results page with information on how many rows were imported, how many new brands were created, and how many existing brands were updated.
