Build with AI Overview: How to Generate Training Programs

Use AI to create complete, structured training phases in minutes, right from the program builder.

Build with AI (beta) lets coaches and admins generate ready-to-edit training phases using AI. Powered by the latest AI engine (Opus 4.6) and integrated with your organization's exercise library, it produces complete phases with real exercises you are already using in your programs. Use it to create a brand new program from scratch, add the next phase to an existing program, or build a progression on top of work you've already done.

Build with AI (beta) is currently available on the web platform for all packages.

This article covers what Build with AI(beta) is, how to access it, and when to use each of its two input modes.

How to access Build with AI (beta)

Build with AI lives inside the program builder. You'll find it when adding a new phase to any program or template.

  1. Navigate to Training Library > Programs and open the program you want to add a phase to or select New Program.

  2. Click Add Phase at the top of the phase list.

  3. Select Build with AI from the dropdown menu.

The Build with AI modal opens, ready for you to describe the program you want to generate.

Two ways to build

Build with AI offers two input modes: Guided or Custom, available as tabs at the top of the modal.

Guided Prompts (Default)

Walks you through three steps where you select training parameters from predefined options.

Best for: Getting a quick, structured starting point when you prefer selecting from menus rather than writing a description.

The three steps cover:

  • Training parameters β€” level, goal, theme, schedule

  • Workout specialties (optional) β€” interval conditioning, plyometrics, and more

  • Equipment & restrictions β€” equipment access and any additional constraints

Custom Prompt (freeform)

Gives you a text area where you describe exactly what you want in your own words, up to 5,000 characters.

Best for: Detailed program visions, specific methodology notes, or requirements that don't fit neatly into dropdown menus.

You'll also set program settings (weeks, days per week, duration) and equipment access, similar to the guided flow.

Which mode should I use?

Use Guided when:

  • You want to get started quickly with a few selections

  • You're exploring what the AI can produce for a given goal or theme

  • You don't have a specific methodology in mind and want Bridge's structured options to guide you

Use Custom when:

  • You have a detailed program vision (e.g., specific splits, rep schemes, or constraints)

  • You want to describe an athlete's background, injury history, or training preferences in your own words

  • Your program needs don't map cleanly to the guided flow's dropdown options

You can switch between the two tabs at any time before generating. Your entries are preserved when switching back.

What happens after you generate

After you click Generate, the modal shows a loading screen while the AI builds your program. This typically takes a few moments.

Once generation is complete, the new phase appears in your program builder alongside any existing phases.

From here, you can review the AI's output and make any changes you'd like. The generated phase is fully editable, just like any phase you'd build manually. You can swap exercises, adjust sets and reps, add or remove blocks, and reorganize the schedule.

Build with AI generates one phase at a time. To build a multi-phase program, generate each phase individually by clicking Add Phase again.

Recently Used prompts

Both modes save your previous inputs so you can quickly reuse or tweak past prompts.

If something goes wrong

This feature is still in beta. Occasionally, the generation may not complete successfully. If this happens, a "We hit a snag" message will appear. Click the option to try again. Your inputs are preserved, so you won't need to re-enter anything.

If the issue persists, please let us know so we can make the needed updates and adjustments.
