Tips for the best Import with AI outputs

A few small adjustments to the context you add to your import can make sure your program is rebuilt accurately, matched to your exercises, and fits your structure. This article shares some tips for getting the best results.

Get the Most Out of Context Instructions

When using the Upload tab, the context instructions field is your best tool for improving accuracy. This is the text area below the file upload to describe your program structure and nomenclature.

Here's what to include:

  1. Explain Your Abbreviations

If your file uses shorthand, spell it out for the AI. For example:

  • "BB = Barbell, DB = Dumbbell, KB = Kettlebell"

  • "RDL = Romanian Deadlift, SL = Single Leg"

  • "SS = Superset, DS = Drop Set"

2. Describe Your Intensity System

If your file references intensity using a specific system, tell the AI what it means:

  • "All percentages are based on 1RM"

  • "Use % difficulty based on the RIR column"

  • "RPE 7 means 3 reps in reserve"

3. Explain Your File Structure

If your spreadsheet or document has a specific layout, describe it:

  • "Each tab in the CSV is a different training day"

  • "Exercises grouped under bold headers are supersets"

  • "Week 1 is on page 1, Week 2 is on page 2"

Bridge Tip: You don't need to write a novel. Two or three sentences covering your abbreviations and structure is usually enough. The AI uses this to interpret ambiguous parts of your file.

Reuse Previous Instructions

If you import regularly with the same conventions, check the Recently Used section below the context field. Click any previous prompt to load it, then tweak as needed. This saves time and keeps your instructions consistent across imports.

When to Use the "Show Weight Input" Checkbox

On the Upload tab, you'll see a checkbox labeled Show weight input (for athletes) when weighted exercise intensity is blank.

Check this box if your file doesn't include intensity data (like percentages or RPE) for weighted exercises and you want athletes to log their own weight when they complete the workout. Leave it unchecked if you plan to add intensity values manually after the import.
