Import with AI isn't just for building programs. You can also use it to create reusable phase templates and workout templates by starting from the Templates section of your Training Library. Upload a file or paste text, and the AI converts it into a template you can reuse across any program.

This article covers how to create templates using Import with AI. For the full import walkthrough, check out this article.

Creating a Phase Template

  1. Navigate to Training Library > Templates > Phases tab.

  2. Click the Import with AI in the banner or select New > Import with AI

  3. Upload your file or switch to the Paste tab and paste your workout text.

  4. Add context instructions to describe your abbreviations and programming style (upload tab only).

  5. Click Import.

  6. Resolve any unmatched exercises on the review screen, then click Confirm and Create.

Your new phase template appears in the Phases tab, ready to be inserted into any program via Add Phase > Template Phase.

Creating a Workout Template

A workout template is a reusable single-day workout you can drop into any program's phase.

  1. Navigate to Training Library > Templates > Workouts tab.

  2. Click the Import with AI link in the yellow banner at the top of the list.

  3. Upload your file or paste your workout text.

  4. Add context instructions if using the upload tab.

  5. Click Import.

  6. Resolve any unmatched exercises, then click Confirm and Create.

Your new workout template appears in the Workouts tab and can be inserted into any phase via Add Day > Template Workout.

When to Create a Template vs. Import into a Program

Create a template when you have a workout or phase you'll reuse across multiple programs. For example, a standard warm-up day, a go-to strength block, or a testing week you run every cycle. Templates live in your library and can be inserted into any program without recreating them.

Import directly into a program when you're building a specific program and want to convert your existing content into a phase for that program only. You can always save it as a template later from the Builder.

Bridge Tip: If you're migrating a large library of workouts from another platform, importing them as workout templates first gives you a searchable collection you can mix and match into programs as needed.

Tips for Template Imports

  • One workout per file for workout templates. If your file contains multiple training days and you're uploading as a workout template, only the first workout will get added. You'll need to either upload the file as a phase and save each workout template manually or parse out the tile.

  • Name your templates clearly after import. The AI generates a name from your content, but renaming it to something descriptive (e.g., "Upper Body Push – Hypertrophy") makes it easier to find later.

  • Tag your templates. After import, add tags like "Strength," "Mobility," or "Testing" so you can filter and search your template library quickly.
