The Annual Plan gives you a 52-week canvas to lay out your season. You can drop your actual training programs onto it, so you plan once instead of building it in a spreadsheet and rebuilding it in Bridge. This article covers creating a plan, laying out your year, adding and editing programs, delivering changes, and sharing.
The Annual Plan is available on the web for coaches and admins. There is no athlete or mobile view.
Step 1: The Set Up
On your Home page, open the Annual Plans card and click New Plan, then fill in three fields:
Plan Name: something you'll recognize a year from now
Start Week: click any date in the week you want to start (adjustable later)
Default Team: the team new programs will belong to
Click Save, and your plan opens as a 52-week canvas.
The Default Team is selected because any programs you add need to be associated with a team. You can add more teams or change the associated team at any point.
Step 2: Lay Out Your Year With Custom Rows
Custom rows are your annotation layer, the part that replaces the spreadsheet. Each cell covers one week.
Click + Add Row, name it (e.g., "Training Phase," "Competition," "Travel"), and press Enter.
Click and drag across the weeks to cover, holding Cmd to pick weeks that aren't next to each other.
Format the selection: Text, Cell color, borders, and merge.
Drag the handle on a row's left to reorder it.
Bridge Tip: Merging is what makes a plan skimmable. Merge your twelve pre-season weeks into one cell, type "Pre-Season," add a fill color, and bold it.
Step 3: Mark Key Dates and Build Your Legend
Color-code the Date row to flag anything date-specific: competitions, testing, travel, exams.
Click any date in the Date row and pick a color.
Bridge adds a chip to the Labels bar above the calendar; click it to rename (e.g., "Home Games," "Testing").
The Labels bar is your plan's legend, so your staff can read the colors without asking.
Step 4: Add Your Training Programs
Click + Add Program at the bottom of the program section, or hover a week and click Add Program.
There are two ways to do this:
1) Add Existing Program
Choose this when the program is already built in your library.
Click Add Existing Program to see your Unassigned, Templates, or Calendar-assigned programs.
Pick one and click Next.
If it's Unassigned or a Template, choose the training day and start week, then Save.
Playlist programs cannot be added to a plan, only calendar programs, since a plan is built on dates. See Calendar vs. Playlist Programs for the difference.
2) Create New Program
Choose this when you want the structure in place now to fill in later.
Click Create New Program, fill in Program Name, Start Week, and Training Days, then Save.
The program appears with its first phase on your start date (only day 1 shows; add more days from the plan or builder).
Click + Add Phase to keep building, and Assign to Members to add athletes.
Bridge Tip: Click a cell further ahead and Bridge fills the gap, creating a phase from the end of your last phase through the week you clicked.
Step 5: Edit Programs Without Leaving the Plan
Click the drop down to the left of a program name to expand its weeks and workouts.
From an expanded row you can:
Click a phase or week for its menu: Open in Builder, Edit Name, Add Week, Analyze, Clone Phase, Copy to Programs, Save as Template, Delete
Drag and drop workouts to rearrange
Click an empty day to add a Template Workout or New Workout
Step 6: Read the Whole Season at Once
Use the Day View / Compact View toggle at the top to change the zoom.
1) Day View (default):
One column per day, where you do your editing.
2) Compact View
One column per week, so far more of the year fits on screen.
In Compact View, click the drop down on the Week row to hide the day and date rows for even more space.
Step 7: Share, Clone, and Export
Click the 3-dot menu at the top of the plan for three actions:
Share Settings: who can open and edit (admins only, admins and coaches, or custom). Only the creator can change this.
Clone: start next season from this year's structure; your rows and highlighted dates carry over.
Print PDF: export a clean, compact copy for sport coaches or ADs. (Delete removes the plan; your programs stay in your library.)
Bridge Tip: Build your custom rows and labels first, before adding programs. Getting the shape of the year down makes it easier to see where each program should start
