Pairing your BridgeU account with your Common App account ensures that your university list and selected application deadlines stay consistent across both platforms. This makes it easier to track your applications and simplifies the document-sending process when you’re ready to apply.
The easy steps in this article will guide you on how to pair your BridgeU student account with your Common App applicant account.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: Log into your BridgeU account and click on your account located on the top right-hand side of your screen and select Account Settings. Once you’ve selected this, you’ll be directed to Your account page.
Step 2: In Your account settings, Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the pink “Pair Common App account” button.
You will now be redirected to the Common App sign-in page.
Step 3: Important – Decide Which Common App Account to Link
⚠️ Please pay close attention to this step.
Once you click “Pair Common App Account”, you will be redirected to the Common App sign-in page.
If you have already signed up and registered for a Common App account:
Use the registered email and password to log in. Double-check that this email and password combination is for the correct Common App account you want to link. This is also especially important if you have already answered your FERPA status.
If you do not have a Common App account yet:
Click on "Create an account" to get started on your registration. Note: You do not need to register on Common App with the same email address you use to log in to BridgeU.
Step 4: Sign in to an existing account, or create a new one
If you have already signed up and registered for a Common App account:
Once you have logged in to the account you want to link to BridgeU, you will need to verify that you give permission to BridgeU to access your information. Select 'I agree' and finalize your decision by clicking 'Connect'.
Have you got an existing Common App account and already invited recommenders through your Common App account?
If you have created a Common App account and invited recommenders directly within Common App, you must remove all recommenders before pairing your Common App account with your BridgeU account.
Recommenders should only be invited from within your BridgeU account to ensure smooth and accurate document submission for your applications.
Additionally, please make sure the correct school name and CEEB code are entered in your Common App account, as these details are essential for successful pairing.
If you do not have a Common App account yet:
Select "Create an account" and fill in your details to register for a new account. Once complete, select "I agree" to give permission to BridgeU to access your information, then finalize the decision by clicking 'Connect'.
Step 5: Once you are back in your BridgeU account, you’ll notice that your accounts have now been paired!
To view a confirmation that the pairing process has been made successfully, you can view the pairing summary details in your Account Settings.
Your Common App details section should now be populated with your personal information such as Name, Common App ID number and email address, as well as your associated school information such as school name and school CEEB code.
You will also notice a green box with a tick which shows your status as Paired (as shown in the example screenshot below).
Step 6: Your CommonApp details listed on Your Account have been imported from your Common App account. Please make sure all the listed Common App details on BridgeU are correct on both your Common App account and BridgeU account. Your Common App ID (CAID) should be the same on both your accounts. Please also check that the correct school name and school CEEB code are listed.
Step 7: Review Details
To check your Common App ID (CAID) matches on BridgeU, please log back into your Common App account. Once logged in, you will be able to see your Common App ID (CAID) on the top right-hand side of the page below your name. Please make sure your CAID is the same on both accounts.
To check your school name and school CEEB code match, navigate to the Common App section in your Common App account and click Education. Here you can view your school name, address and CEEB code. Please make sure all this information is the same on both accounts.
Step 8: Congratulations! You’ve now successfully paired your Common App and BridgeU accounts. 🎉
You can now begin adding colleges to the My Colleges section in your Common App account.
Select any college under My Colleges and complete the FERPA release authorisation process. Once this step is completed, the colleges will automatically appear in your list on BridgeU.
This process ensures seamless synchronisation between Common App and BridgeU. Your Common App ID and FERPA status will automatically sync with your BridgeU profile once the accounts are successfully paired, allowing your advisor/counselor to manage document sending efficiently.
