The Take Card to Book setting ensures you always have a secure payment method on file when a client chooses a custom payment method (cash, check, Venmo, etc.). It does not charge the trip price—its only purpose is to collect a backup card for incidentals such as damages or no-shows.
How to configure
Open your Admin Panel in the top-left corner.
Select Accepted Payments.
Scroll down to Custom Payment Method Settings for Invoices and Web Checkout.
Toggle on Take Card to Book.
How it works
When Take Card to Book is toggled on, Brindlechute will request a credit card any time a client books with a custom payment method—whether through Instant Book on your site or through an invoice you send.
The card simply stays on file. It will only be used if you need to charge for incidentals or if a client commits to a booking but does not follow through. Guests still complete their payment using the custom method they selected.
Why it helps
This gives outfitters flexibility in how they accept payments while maintaining protection against unexpected costs.
