A bigger, better way to manage your business.
This release introduces Contact Code — a new way to uniquely identify and manage contacts in Bukku — along with a bundle of previously rolled-out improvements to enhance your overall Bukku experience.
Contact Management Updates
Introducing Contact Code
We’re introducing Contact Code — a unique identifier for every customer, supplier, and employee in Bukku, making it easier to manage and distinguish contacts.
Previously, contact names had to be unique. Now, you can have multiple contacts with the same name, while each contact is uniquely identified by its own Contact Code.
You do not need to create separate Chart of Accounts for each customer or supplier. Bukku continues to track outstanding balances by contact, with Contact Code serving as the unique reference to identify each contact.
Contact Code will appear throughout Bukku, including contact lists, dropdowns, reports, Statement of Account, and imports.
What you need to know:
Existing contacts have been automatically assigned a Contact Code — no action is required.
New contacts will have a Contact Code generated automatically.
When creating a new contact, Bukku will automatically suggest a Contact Code based on the format:
C-[First character of contact name][4-digit running number]
Example: Bubbu Enterprise → C-B0001
You can edit and overwrite the Contact Code to match your own numbering format.
Contact Code must be unique and can contain up to 15 characters, including letters, numbers, hyphens (
-), and underscores (_). Spaces are not allowed.Contact Code will be displayed across Bukku, including the areas shown below:
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to rename my existing contacts?
No. This update removes the previous restriction requiring contact names to be unique. You can keep your existing contact names as they are.Do I need to update my existing contacts or create Contact Codes manually?
No. All existing contacts have already been assigned a Contact Code automatically. You may update the codes later if you prefer to use your own numbering format. What if I already have my own customer or supplier numbering system?
You can overwrite Bukku’s suggested Contact Code with your own numbering format. It does not need to follow Bukku’s default format. Will my existing imports or reports be affected?
No. Existing imports and reports will continue to work as usual. Contact Code has been added to support imports, exports, and reports to make contact identification easier.
Set Default Location for Contact
You can now set a default location for each contact. When creating transactions such as quotations and invoices, the assigned location will be automatically selected instead of using the company’s default location.
This is useful for businesses with multiple branches, where customers can be linked to their usual branch location automatically (e.g. a KLEC customer’s transactions will default to the KLEC branch instead of HQ).
Support up to 6 Contact Groups per Contact
You can now assign up to 6 Contact Groups to a single contact, giving you more flexibility when organising contacts for reporting and recurring transactions.
Separate Contact Permissions by Contact Type
You can now set more detailed permissions for the Contact module by controlling access based on contact type.
Previously, granting access to the Contact module allowed users to view all contacts. Now, you can choose whether users can access customers, suppliers, or employees separately.
This gives businesses more control over sensitive information and helps prevent users from accessing contact details they do not need.
Form Design Updates
Option to Show or Hide Bukku Logo in MyInvois QR Code
You can now choose whether to show or hide the Bukku logo within the MyInvois QR code displayed on transaction PDFs.
Simply toggle the setting based on your preference. When disabled, the QR code will be displayed without the Bukku logo.
To update this setting, go to Control Panel > Form Design, click View on your form design, then toggle the Logo in QR option under the MyInvois section. Don’t forget to save your changes.

Payroll & Import Integration Updates
Support for MySyarikat Payroll Import
If you’re using MySyarikat for payroll processing, you can now import your payroll files directly into Bukku.
Simply upload the payroll file generated from MySyarikat, and Bukku will automatically create the corresponding payroll entries for you, saving time on manual data entry.
SST & Tax Updates
The following updates keep Bukku aligned with the latest SST-02 reporting requirements from Kastam Malaysia.
Support Service Tax on Accrual / Invoice Basis
You can now choose to record Service Tax based on the invoice basis (accrual basis) instead of only the payment basis.
By default, Service Tax is recorded on a payment basis (tax is recognised when payment is received).
If your business follows invoice basis, you can enable this setting so that Service Tax is recognised when the invoice is issued.
To enable this option, go to Control Panel > Company Settings > Tax, then toggle on Enable Invoice Basis Service Tax.
Add Exempted Tax Description for MyInvois Submission
At Control Panel > Company Settings > Tax, after enabling Exempted Tax Codes, you can enter the details of your tax exemption if applicable.
This may include buyer’s sales tax exemption certificate number, special exemption under gazette orders or other approved exemption references.
This information will be automatically included in your e-Invoice submission.
Example Display in MyInvois Document
Below is an example of how the exemption details will appear in MyInvois Document after submission.
Support Multiple 18(c) SST Exemption Types
Section 18(c) – Total Value of Exempted Taxable Services in the SST-02 report has been split into three categories:
18(c)(1) – B2B: Value of Exempted Taxable Services (B2B)
18(c)(2) – Group: Value of Exempted Taxable Services (Group)
18(c)(3) – Other: Value of Exempted Taxable Services (Other)
To support this, existing tax codes SVE and SVE8 are now replaced with SVEC1/SVE8C1 (B2B), SVEC2/SVE8C2 (Group), and SVEC3/SVE8C3 (Other).
On transactions, the exempted amount will be labelled accordingly and reported under the corresponding 18(c) subsection in your SST-02 report.
Support New Tax Code: NT (0%) for Non-Taxable Services
Introduced new tax code NT to support services that are not subject to SST but are not exempted either. For SST-registered businesses, transactions using NT will be reported under SST-02 Section 18(d) – Total Value of Non Taxable Services.
Support New Tax Code: SV6E2 (6%) for Rental / Leasing Services
Introduced new tax code SV6E2 (6%) to support the 2% Service Tax exemption for rental and leasing services. For SST-registered businesses, transactions using SV6E2 will be reported under SST-02 Sections 11(c) and 18(c)(3) according to the latest reporting requirements.
Data Management Updates
Bulk Delete Contacts
You can now delete multiple contacts at once instead of removing them one by one, saving time when cleaning up your contact list.
If a contact has been used in any transaction, Bukku will notify you that it cannot be deleted, so your transaction records stay intact.
Bulk Delete Products & Services
You can now delete multiple products or services at once instead of removing them individually, making it faster to manage your product & service list.
If a product or service has been used in any transaction, Bukku will notify you that it cannot be deleted, so your transaction records stay intact.
That wraps up this round of updates! We hope these improvements make managing your business even easier — more updates are on the way. If you need any assistance, our support team is always ready to help. 😊
