Recording Purchase Bills with SST as a Non-SST-Registered Business

Written by Ying

If you are not SST-registered and your supplier charges SST, you can record it in Bukku by following the steps below.

Scenario:
Assume you purchase a MacBook priced at RM4,300.

A Sales Tax of 5% is applied, resulting in a tax amount of RM215, bringing the total amount to RM4,515.

Steps:

  1. Go to Purchases > Bills and click + New.

  2. Enter the purchase bill as usual.

    • In the Items section, click + Item, then enter MacBook with a unit price of RM4,300.00.

    • Note: Do not select any tax code in the Tax field.

  3. Click + Item again to add a new item line for the SST amount.

    • In the Item Description, enter SST Expense and select the SST Expense account.

    • Set the Quantity to 1, then enter RM215.00 in the Unit Price field.

  4. Review the total amount to ensure it is correct, then click Save.
