Why Isn’t My Advertisement Showing?

Follow this quick checklist to identify why an advertisement may not be appearing in your portal or newsletters

Updated over a week ago

If an advertisement you’ve created isn’t appearing as expected, there are a few common causes to check. This guide walks through the most likely reasons so you can quickly identify and resolve the issue.

Confirm the campaign is enabled

First, make sure the campaign associated with your advertisement is active.

  • Navigate to your campaign

  • Verify that Is this campaign enabled? is checked

If the campaign is not enabled, the advertisement will not display regardless of any other settings.

Check the campaign’s active dates

If your campaign has Active From or Active Until dates set, confirm that the current date falls within that range.

  • If the current date is before the start date, your ad won't display yet

  • If the current date is after the end date, your ad will no longer display

If no dates are set, the campaign will remain active as long as it is enabled.

Verify user targeting

Advertisements will only display to users who match the campaign’s targeting criteria. If you're looking at a portal or newsletter from your own account, check the following:

  • Does your account match the selected targeting filters?

  • Do any users in your portal actually meet the targeting criteria you selected?

If your account doesn't match the selected targeting criteria, you won't be able to see the ad from your own account. If no users match your selected targeting, the advertisement won't display for anyone.

Confirm content zone placement

Make sure the advertisement is assigned to the correct content zone for where you expect it to appear.

  • Double-check the selected content zone (e.g., portal-newsfeed vs. portal-community zones and placement)

  • If using a custom newsletter, confirm the template includes an advertisement block and the advertisement’s content zone matches the custom zone name in the template

Check priority levels

If multiple advertisements target the same users and appear in the same content zone, only one will display. In these cases:

  • The advertisement with the higher priority (lower number) will be shown

  • Lower-priority (higher number) ads may not appear at all

If your ad isn’t showing, check whether another campaign with higher priority is competing for the same placement.
