How to Import CampusKnot Points into D2L Brightspace

Download your CampusKnot Grade

To download your CampusKnot points follow these steps

Set Up the Assignment in D2L

Step 1 In your D2L course, click Assessments > Assignments on the navigation bar.

Step 2 Click the New Assignment button.

Step 3 Enter an Assignment Title and type your total point value in the Grade Out Of box

Download your D2L Grades

Step 1 Select the 'Grades' option on the course navigation bar

Step 2 Select the 'Enter Grades' tab

Step 3 Select the 'Export' button

Click Grades, then Export from the Enter Grades screen.

Step 4 The 'Export Grades' area appears

Step 5 Make sure you select the following user details:

Last Name
First Name
Email

Review the Export Options: choose which users, key field, grade values, and user details to include.

Step 6 A dialogue box will appear with the file name and a "Download" button. Select the 'Download' button

Step 7 Make sure you have both CSV files opened (CampusKnot and D2L)

Step 8 Copy the scores from your CampusKnot CSV directly into the D2L CSV under the 'CampusKnot' or 'Participation' column

Step 9 Save this as a new file under a name you will recognize for easy uploading.

Import CampusKnot Grades to D2L

Step 1 Select the 'Grades' link on the course navigation bar

Step 2 Select the 'Enter Grades' tab

Step 3 Select the 'Import' button

Click Grades, then Import from the Enter Grades screen.

Step 4 The 'Import Grades - Step 1: Select File to Import' area appears

On the Import Grades screen, browse for your file and click Continue.

Step 5 Select 'Browse' and find the file to be imported

Confirm the correct file is selected, then click Continue to complete the import.

Step 6 Inside Import Grades make sure you follow the steps here

Review the unrecognized item, confirm Create New Grade Item is checked, and select the grade type.

Step 7 Select 'Continue' and move to Step 3 which allows a user to assign various properties to the new grade item(s)

Set the Maximum Points and adjust Can Exceed or Bonus as needed, then click Continue.

⚠️ If there are errors, it will show inside this field.

Review any errors or warnings, then click Continue.

Step 8 This last step shows a preview of the data that will be associated with the new grade item. Once you're ready select 'Import'

Preview the import, confirming existing and new grade items, then click Import.

Troubleshooting

→ My students don't match between Canvas and CampusKnot.
Check that your Canvas roster matches your CampusKnot student list. If they don't line up, get the steps to mass update a roster on CampusKnot.

→ My columns don't match up.
Upload one grade column per student. Extra columns cause the import to misalign.

→ This isn't working!
