Use an item's dates and history together to understand when a change was announced, when it may arrive and whether Microsoft has revised it.
Know which date you are reading
Published by Microsoft: the source publication date shown for the item.
Updated by Microsoft: the recorded source update date; it does not by itself establish a meaningful change.
Release or deployment start and end: the available rollout window.
Frontier and Preview start and end: the recorded early rollout timing, when supplied.
Action required by: a preparation or action deadline, when supplied.
GA date or month: Azure general-availability timing.
A dash means a value is not provided. It does not mean that no action is required. Read the Microsoft message for conditions and dates expressed in the announcement text.
Check the change history
Open the item detail page.
Find History and review the recorded events and dates.
For Microsoft 365 Roadmap or Azure Updates, use the source's Date Changes view when your question is specifically about release timing.
Compare the history with the latest source content before changing a plan.
Date Changes can contain multiple rows for the same feature because a feature's date can move more than once. History shows the changes you would notice, not every technical update Microsoft makes; it is not evidence that your team has completed an action.
Check how fresh the list is
The feed footer shows Last data refresh. This is the dataset's refresh information, not a promise that Microsoft has just changed every displayed item. Reloading your browser does not force a new Microsoft ingestion.
If dates disagree
During the beta, list and detail dates can occasionally differ. Use the original Microsoft announcement to check the intended rollout wording and action deadline. Report the item ID, the two values and the screens where they appear. Do not infer an exact tenant activation date from a month-level value.
New items and meaningful updates are explained separately; the Updated by Microsoft date is not the same as a meaningful change.
Filter the right Message Center date
The Dates control includes Published by Microsoft, Updated by Microsoft, Frontier start/end, Preview start/end, Release start/end, Deferred start/end, GCC, GCC High, EDU and DoD start/end, and Action required by. Choose the relevant field and apply a from/to range. Several ranges can be active together.
Expanded details show rollout windows only when source data exists. Action required by is shown only when a genuine deadline was supplied; a missing value is not a deadline of today. Publication, update, rollout and required-action dates answer different questions.
Azure GA dates describe recorded general availability. The retired GA Soon view should not be used as a forecast of future Azure launches.
