Locking a Day on the Job Schedule

Efficiently manage crew schedules in Chariot by locking days. Prevent conflicts and maintain order with this essential feature.

Updated over a year ago

In Chariot, managing your crew schedule efficiently will ensure operations run smoothly. One essential feature that Chariot offers is the ability to lock any day on the schedule with just a click. This feature adds an extra layer of control over your dispatch process, allowing you to maintain order and prevent inadvertent scheduling conflicts.

How to Lock a Day

  1. Navigate to a Day on the Job Schedule: Start by locating the day on the job schedule you want to lock.

  2. Click on the Lock Icon: Once you've found the day, click on the lock icon. This action will turn the lock icon red, indicating that the day is now locked.

  3. Save Changes: After clicking on the lock icon, remember to save your changes. This ensures that the locked status of the day is applied.

Effects of Locking a Day

Once a day is locked on the schedule, several actions are restricted:

  • Booking a Job: Users will be unable to book any jobs on the locked day.

  • Reserving a Job: Similarly, attempting to reserve a job for the locked day will be blocked.

  • Rescheduling a Job: Any attempts to reschedule a job on the locked day will also be prevented.

What Will Happen Once Locked

Once a day is locked, Chariot displays an error message when users attempt these restricted actions. For example:

  • Booking a Job: If a user tries to drag and drop a job onto a locked day, the action will be blocked, and an error message will be displayed.

  • Reserving a Job: Clicking on the reserve button for a job on a locked day will prompt a dialog box indicating that scheduling the move is not possible due to the locked status of the day.

Benefits of this Feature

Locking days on the job schedule offers several advantages:

  • Improved Visibility: It provides better visibility into days where dispatch changes have been finalized or where the capacity is fully utilized.

  • Prevents Scheduling Conflicts: By preventing team members from booking jobs on locked days, it helps avoid scheduling conflicts and ensures smooth operations.

We hope this guide has helped understand how to utilize the lock feature in Chariot to manage your crew schedule effectively.
