Overview of the Timeline Feature

The timeline feature in Chariot allows you to see a detailed history of changes on any lead or job. This includes the user who made the changes and the exact date and time they occurred.

Key Columns in the Timeline

  • User Column: Displays the name of the user who made the change.

  • Date and Time Column: Shows when the event took place.

Understanding the "WebAPI" User

You may notice a user labeled "WebAPI" in the timeline. This indicates that the Chariot system made these changes automatically, rather than a specific user.

Viewing Detailed Events

To see specific details of an event:

  1. Click the plus (+) icon next to the main event.

  2. This will expand the event, showing all actions taken, such as:

    • User Actions: For example, "Ian Tester changed the job stage from 'book' to 'canceled' and then from 'modified' to 'book'."

    • Personal Actions: You can also see your own actions, such as creating a new job location.

Navigating the Timeline

  • Scroll down to view more events.

  • You may encounter multiple pages of events, each providing a detailed breakdown of activities on the job.

Limitations of the Timeline Feature

While the timeline feature provides comprehensive details, there are some limitations to be aware of:

  1. System-Generated Changes: Events marked with "WebAPI" can be less transparent, as they are automatically generated by the system. Detailed reasoning behind these changes might not be fully explained.

  2. Data Volume: For leads or jobs with extensive activity, the timeline can become lengthy and harder to navigate, potentially requiring multiple pages to view all events.

  3. Historical Data: The timeline feature may have limitations in tracking changes that occurred before the feature was implemented. Only changes logged after its activation will be fully detailed.

  4. Real-Time Updates: While the timeline is updated frequently, there might be a slight delay in displaying the most recent changes.
