Add people to a department or team

You can represent departments, functions, cross functional teams, squads, or any group of employees within Charlie by creating teams

Teams are a great way to visualise where people sit in your company, and can represent permanent departments, functions or cross functional teams.

You can put people in multiple teams on Charlie, while each team can have more than one team lead.

Creating a new team is easy on Charlie:

  1. Head to People from the side navigation.

  2. Select 'Teams' tab at the top of the page.

  3. Select 'Add Team', enter the Team's name and select 'Create Team'

  4. You will now be able to add people to your newly created team

To add one person to a team 

  1. Head to their profile.

  2. Under 'Teams', select the team you want to add them to and select 'Add to team'.

To add multiple people to a team 

  1. Select 'People' in the side navigation bar.

  2. Click on the checkboxes next to the people you want to add to a team. 

  3. In the green highlighted box, select 'Add to team'.

  4. Select the team you want to add them to.

Setting a team lead

Team leads are able to approve holiday for everyone within their team. You can learn more about permissions here.

  1. Go to that person's profile page.

  2. On the 'Employment' tab, you'll all the teams they're in.

  3. If you haven't already, add them to the team(s) they are going to be the Team Lead of.

  4. Use the button on the right to set the person as the Team Lead for a certain team (or teams).

Naming Teams

We recommend only naming department teams with the description part of their name.  For example, if you have a Sales Department, create a team called 'Sales'.
