What are user roles and permissions?

Understanding user roles and permissions in Check Cherry helps you control what your team members can see and do in the system.

Updated yesterday

Staff Dashboard

Staff users see a streamlined dashboard that focuses only on their assigned tasks and permitted functions. This keeps the interface clean and prevents access to administrative features.

Staff Role

When you add a user to your Check Cherry account and assign them the Staff role, they get basic access to the system with these default capabilities:

  • View assigned bookings only - Staff users can only see bookings that are specifically assigned to them

  • Limited dashboard access - Unlike administrators, staff users see a simplified dashboard based on their assigned permissions

What does the Sales role do?

The Sales role builds upon the Staff role by adding sales-focused permissions:

  • All Staff permissions - Everything a Staff user can do

  • Lead management - Ability to manage and track leads

  • Proposal creation - Can create and send proposals to clients

Additional Permissions

You can enhance Staff and Sales users by adding these specific permissions:

See All Bookings

  • What it does: Allows the user to view all confirmed bookings in the system

  • Default behavior: Without this permission, users only see bookings assigned to them

  • Best for: Team leads, coordinators, or staff who need visibility into all operations

Extended Permissions

This permission grants access to business-critical information and editing capabilities:

  • Pricing visibility - Can see pricing information for services

  • Package editing - Ability to modify service packages

  • Add-on management - Can add or modify service add-ons

  • Backdrop editing - Can update backdrop options

How do I Assign Permissions?

When setting up permissions for your team:

  1. Navigate to user management

  2. Search for and edit the staff member

  3. Choose their base role (Staff or Customer, but not both)

  4. Add any additional permissions as needed

Permission Strategy - Recommended Approach

  1. Role-based assignment - Match permissions to job responsibilities

  2. Regular review - Periodically audit permissions to ensure they're still appropriate

Security Considerations

  • Only grant "Extended Permissions" to trusted team members

  • Consider limiting "See All Bookings" to supervisory roles

  • Review permissions when staff roles change
