20 Best (and 17 worst) Practices

Helpful information on what to do, and not do, to grow your business.

Updated over 6 months ago

Some of the best practices we suggest, in no particular order, are:

  1. Have a website. Even a simple, modern website is better than none. It makes you look more professional and established.

  2. Get back to customers quickly when they reach out to you.

  3. Make it easy for your customers to book you, sign your contract and pay.

  4. Keep your branding consistent through the entire customer journey (initial inquiry, booking process, website navigation, etc.)

  5. Have clear and simple pricing.

  6. Register for Google My Business to get your company listed on the map of local companies.

  7. Network with others in your industry.

  8. Focus on social proof (reviews, especially Google reviews).

  9. Use good Calls to Action on your website. Make them intuitive, compelling and obvious. Ex: A Book Now button above the fold in the center of your website.

  10. Make your website do the selling for you. It should help customers decide to buy from you.

  11. The top right corner of your website is the most valuable real estate. Use it wisely.

  12. Your social media should drive customers to your website, not from your website to your social media channels.

  13. Consider showing pricing on your website; this helps eliminate price-fishers.

  14. Make it clear which region or geographic area that you service.

  15. Keep lead forms short - only require the minimum information required to book.

  16. Listen to feedback from your ideal clients and act on it.

  17. Differentiate your packages by more than just number of hours.

  18. Make sure your proposals look good on mobile devices.

  19. Do not send PDF's or Word documents to close a sale.

  20. Take care of your customers.
