Plaid doesn't accept my form of ID. What are my options?

"Learn what ID is accepted for identity verification on Chexy, tips for a successful upload, and what to do if you only have international documentation."

Identity Verification on Chexy

As part of our onboarding process, all Chexy users are required to verify their identity through Plaid, our trusted third-party verification system. This is a mandatory security step to keep your account and payments safe.

What Do I Need to Verify My Identity?

Some users will be asked to upload a photo of a valid government-issued ID along with a selfie. Plaid currently accepts the following forms of ID only:

  • ✅ Valid Canadian Driver's License (temporary licenses are not accepted)

  • ✅ Canadian-issued Identification Card

  • ✅ Canadian Passport

  • ✅ Canadian Residency Permit Card

  • ✅ Ontario Photo Card

Tips for a Successful Verification

  • Make sure your photo is clear and well-lit

  • Ensure all details on your ID are fully visible

  • Avoid glare, shadows, or blurry images — these may delay or prevent processing

What If I Don't Have Canadian ID?

We understand this requirement may prevent some users — particularly those with international documentation — from accessing our platform, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Our team is actively working to expand our accepted forms of ID as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you have any questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to Chexy Support.
