Glance through these requirements before you begin using TimeTiles:
Smartphone compatibility:
A few Android phones don't have NFC hardware and can't scan TimeTiles. Employees can still clock in with app, and you can require location services to be enabled for GPS tracking. Go to People, click on the employee, Profile, and Troubleshooting to see their phone model and settings.
All iPhones, from iPhone 7 running iOS 13 and later can read TimeTiles.
And here is the "definitive list" of NFC-enabled phones.
TimeTile placement:
Choose a flat, smooth surface to place the tiles.
Do not place on a metal surface unless you ordered our custom “on-metal” tiles from the TimeTile Store.
Recommended for use indoors. If outdoor use is necessary, you may need to replace TimeTiles more frequently for the best scan results.
Troubleshooting a TimeTile:
Ensure you scan from the back of the phone. Place the back of the phone on the tile and swipe down.
Androids only: make sure that the phone NFC settings are turned on: open the Settings app, tap on Bluetooth & device connection, select Connection preferences, and turn the toggle NFC to On.
Accessories and metal on the phone case can interfere with TimeTile scans. Try removing the phone case if there's a problem.
If employees are not prompted to scan a tile, ensure it is activated.
