No. You can mix bikes with and without power meters in the same class. CicloZone supports three ride types.

The three ride types

Ride type

What it needs

How resistance works

ERG Ride

Smart bike with ERG / FTMS

Bike auto-adjusts to target wattage

Connected Ride

Bike sends power and RPM (no ERG)

Rider adjusts resistance manually

HR-Based Ride

Heart-rate monitor only

Ciclo AI calculates HR-based zones

Mixed fleets

A single class can include any combination of these. Every rider gets a working ride, regardless of their bike's capability.

Leaderboard flexibility

The leaderboard can be configured by the instructor on different metrics — so power-less bikes can still compete:

  • COL%

  • Kcal

  • Average W/kg

What about old non-smart bikes?

Two options:

  • CicloZone Power Crank — converts the bike to a Connected ride.

  • RPM sensor + Bluetooth HR monitor — runs HR-Based Ride.
