No. You can mix bikes with and without power meters in the same class. CicloZone supports three ride types.
The three ride types
Ride type | What it needs | How resistance works |
ERG Ride | Smart bike with ERG / FTMS | Bike auto-adjusts to target wattage |
Connected Ride | Bike sends power and RPM (no ERG) | Rider adjusts resistance manually |
HR-Based Ride | Heart-rate monitor only | Ciclo AI calculates HR-based zones |
Mixed fleets
A single class can include any combination of these. Every rider gets a working ride, regardless of their bike's capability.
Leaderboard flexibility
The leaderboard can be configured by the instructor on different metrics — so power-less bikes can still compete:
COL%
Kcal
Average W/kg
What about old non-smart bikes?
Two options:
CicloZone Power Crank — converts the bike to a Connected ride.
RPM sensor + Bluetooth HR monitor — runs HR-Based Ride.
