What is ERG Mode, and how do I use it?

ERG Mode auto-adjusts resistance to your target wattage — when it's available and how to enable it.

ERG Mode is automatic resistance control. The bike auto-tunes to your personalised target wattage so you only manage cadence (RPM).

When ERG is available

  • On compatible BLE FTMS bikes with ERG support.

  • Toggle Enable ERG before joining a class (or in the in-class menu).

  • ERG is rider-controlled — each rider can enable or disable it independently.

How CicloZone's ERG works

  • Resistance is auto-tuned per rider, per interval, based on your personalised power zones.

  • If you make a manual nudge to the resistance during an interval, that change applies to the current interval only.

  • The next interval automatically resets to the class-defined target — so the class profile is preserved.

When NOT to use ERG

  • If your bike doesn't support ERG (most Keiser M3i, ICG IC5–IC8 do not).

  • If you want to manually drive resistance for a free-form workout.

How to enable

  1. On the join screen of the CicloZone app, toggle Enable ERG.

  2. Or, inside a class, open the menu and toggle ERG on / off.
