Online collaboration can often lead to one issue: too. many. notifications. To help you better handle notifications, we’ve made it easier to control them to your needs. Let's take a look.

3 Ways to handle your notifications

When speaking about notifications, we all have our preferences. With Claap, you have 3 powerful ways to manage your notifications:

  1. For the Email folks: we’ve redesigned the new notification emails

  2. For the Slack Addict: you can use our Slack App to receive and reply to comments from Slack

  3. For the “0 Inbox” fans: manage your claap activity directly in the inbox in Claap.

Notification preferences: how to change them

My notifications page allows you to stay up-to-date on important activities in your claap videos and control the type of notifications you receive. To manage both your email and Slack notification preferences, visit your Personal Settings page:

Email notifications

These are the type of email notifications available from your Personal Settings:

  • When someone comments in a claap I’m following

  • When someone replies in a thread I’m following

  • When someone @mentions me in a comment or reply

  • When someone adds an in-context reaction to my claaps

  • When someone watches my claaps for the first time

  • When someone votes on my polls

  • When someone invites me to a claap

  • When someone adds a claap in a topic I’m following

  • When a claap I uploaded is ready to be watched

Slack notifications

For now, we don't offer granular notifications for Slack. You can enable or disable to receive Slack notifications from Claap on mentions, comments, and first views.

How to follow or unfollow notifications

In addition to the global preferences in your user profile, you can also choose to follow or unfollow notifications for a specific topic, claap, or comment thread.

Topic notifications

When you create a new topic or are added as a member of a topic, you will be automatically notified about new claaps added to that topic. If you prefer, you can choose to be notified only when you're @mentioned in the comments.

To open the notifications preferences for a particular topic, click on ... on the header:

Claap notifications

For claap videos that you create and for claaps you are added as a member or guest, you will be automatically notified about all new comments and replies. You can choose to only be notified of new @mentions.

Comment thread notifications

When you follow a claap or have previously contributed to a given thread, you are by default notified of new activity in the commenting section.

To turn off notifications for replies, click on the three dots and then click on Turn off notifications for replies.

If you wish to revert this action, click again on the three dots and then click on Get notified about new replies. You can also be notified about new activity for claaps you do not follow or haven’t contributed to in the past. Just perform the same steps to follow the thread:
