Asking Mira Questions
Mira is designed to be conversational — you can ask her questions the same way you'd ask a colleague. This article covers how to get the most out of your interactions with Mira.
How to start a conversation
Open Mira from the navigation menu or the Mira icon in your Clockwork account. Type your question in the chat input and hit enter. Mira will respond with an answer grounded in your company's actual financial data.
You don't need to use special commands or specific phrasing — just ask naturally.
What kinds of questions can I ask?
Mira is designed to handle a wide range of financial questions. Here are some examples to get you started:
Performance questions
"How did we perform last month compared to the prior month?"
"What are my top three expense categories this quarter?"
"Is my gross margin improving or declining?"
"How does this year compare to last year so far?"
Cash flow questions
"What's my projected cash balance at the end of next month?"
"When is my next low cash point?"
"How much cash do I have available right now?"
Forecast and planning questions
"What would happen to my cash flow if I hired two more people?"
"How much revenue do I need to break even next quarter?"
"What's driving my forecast for Q3?"
Explanation questions
"Why did my expenses spike in March?"
"What's causing the variance between my forecast and actuals?"
"Can you explain how my cash flow forecast is calculated?"
Tips for better answers
Be specific about time periods — "last quarter" or "the past 6 months" helps Mira give you a more precise answer than just "recently."
Name specific accounts or categories if you're asking about something particular, like "my marketing expenses" or "subscription revenue."
Follow up — if Mira's answer raises another question, just keep the conversation going. She maintains context within the conversation.
Ask for summaries — Mira is great at pulling together a quick read on your business. Try "Give me a quick summary of where we stand financially" for a snapshot view.
What Mira can't do (yet)
Mira is continuously improving, but there are a few things to be aware of:
Mira works within your Clockwork data — she can't pull in data from outside your connected accounting system.
She can't make changes to your Financial Model or settings on your behalf — you'll still do that directly in Clockwork.
For highly complex or custom scenarios, you may still want to work directly in the Financial Model or Scenario Planner for full control.
