Why Isn't My Data Updating?

Troubleshoot data that looks out of date, or assumptions that aren't flowing through to your forecast

Why Isn't My Data Updating?

If your numbers look out of date or a change you made isn't showing up, here are the most common causes and how to fix them.

Your accounting data looks out of date

Clockwork syncs automatically with QuickBooks Online and Xero on a regular schedule, so new transactions typically appear without any action from you. If you've just posted transactions in your accounting software and want them reflected immediately, you can trigger a manual refresh from your data/connection settings rather than waiting for the next automatic sync.

If a sync appears stuck or hasn't run recently, confirm your accounting integration is still connected — an expired or revoked connection will stop new data from flowing in.

An assumption isn't flowing through to my forecast

When you add or edit an assumption (for example, a revenue assumption) and don't see it reflected downstream, check the following:

  • The right scenario is selected. Assumptions apply to the scenario you're working in. If you're viewing a different scenario, you won't see the change.

  • The date range covers the change. Make sure the period you're viewing includes the months the assumption affects.

  • The model has finished recalculating. Larger changes can take a moment to recalculate across the Financial Model, Cash Flow Forecast, and Balance Sheet.

A change to revenue isn't showing in my cash forecast

The Cash Flow Forecast reflects when cash is expected to move, which can differ from when revenue is recognized in the P&L — depending on your payment timing and collection assumptions. A revenue change will flow into cash based on those timing settings, so the impact may appear in a later period than the revenue itself.
