A template saves the content and signing setup you use often. Each time you use it, RakeSign creates a fresh draft.

Create a template

  1. Open Templates.

  2. Choose Create template under a template starter or under Create a template from your own document.

  3. Enter a Template name. Upload your document or write its content.

  4. Use People & order to set the signer and approver roles and their order.

  5. Use Prepare to choose where signatures belong. Review the PDF and each recipient's fields.

  6. Select Save template.

Leave details empty when they will change for each agreement. For example, a services template can leave the client name and fee empty.

Save an existing draft

In the document editor, open More and choose Save as template. Enter a name, review the recipient role labels, and save.

You can also choose Save existing draft from Templates. Select a prepared draft that already has document content.

Prepare for forms or bulk send

For Word documents or documents written in RakeSign, use Use document placeholders or Add a signing page on Prepare. These options support content that changes length.

Manually positioned PDF fields can need a new placement review after the content changes. A self-service form cannot use a generated template with this placement option.

Saving a template does not send signing invitations. Use the template to create a document when you are ready.
