Personalize document details and placeholders

Reuse the same agreement wording with a different name, fee, date, or other value.

Document details fill values in the agreement text. They are different from signing fields, which recipients complete when they sign.

Add a detail to a document written in RakeSign

  1. On the Documents step, open Fields.

  2. Enter a Field name, such as Client name or Monthly fee.

  3. Choose a Field type. Available types include Text, Number, Yes or no, and Repeatable table.

  4. For a text or number field, select Insert into document. This adds the placeholder at the end of the document.

  5. Use Insert field in the editor to place an available field at the cursor.

Leave values empty when you save a reusable template. Fill them when you create an agreement from it.

Insert a document detail or a participant field at the cursor.

Use placeholders in Word

Add a placeholder such as {{client_name}} to the Word text. Open Fields and select Save text and refresh fields to detect its document detail.

Use Show filled values to see entered values in the editor. Review PDF preview for the final layout.

Use recipient details

The Insert field menu includes participant names and emails from People & order. Update the person there to update that value in the document body.

A name placeholder is not a signature. Choose a signature, initials, or signing date from Insert field when you need a signing marker.

Fill from another source

In Advanced, Fill details from a Workspace record appears when records are available. Match the details, select Preview record details, review them, then choose Use these details.

You can also use Suggest details from a supporting document. Upload the source, select Suggest document details, and check every suggestion against its source.

Select Apply reviewed details & regenerate only after that review. Check field placement on the new PDF.
