Overview
Ingredients in Steps shows the relevant ingredients alongside each recipe step, with amounts that automatically adjust based on portion settings. Instead of scrolling back and forth between the ingredients list and method, your subscribers can see exactly what they need at each stage.
This feature has been one of the most requested by creators and their subscribers.
How to enable
Go to Settings in your dashboard
Find Ingredients in steps under Features
Toggle it on
That's it β your recipes will now show ingredient tags alongside each step.
How it works
Automatic tagging with AI
When you publish a recipe, AI automatically analyses your ingredients and method to determine which step each ingredient should appear with.
For example, if your recipe includes "200g Tofu", the AI will attach it to the first step that mentions using the tofu β but won't show it on every subsequent step that references it.
You can also manually trigger auto-tagging in the recipe editor by clicking the Auto-tag ingredients button.
Editing tags manually
In the recipe editor, each step shows its tagged ingredients below the instructions. You can:
Remove a tag by clicking the Γ next to it
Add a tag by clicking + Add ingredient tag and selecting from your ingredients list
We'd recommend reviewing the AI outputs in case you want to make any changes.
Portion adjustments
Ingredient amounts shown in steps automatically adjust when a subscriber changes the portion size - just like the main ingredients list. If someone switches from 4 servings to 2, the "200g Cavolo Nero" in Step 1 becomes "100g Cavolo Nero".
FAQ
Will this work with my existing recipes?
Yes. All your previous recipes have been automatically tagged by AI. You can review and adjust the tags in the recipe editor.
Can I turn it off for specific recipes?
The feature is app-wide, so it applies to all recipes. However, you can remove ingredient tags from individual steps in the recipe editor if you prefer certain steps to show without them.
What if the AI tags an ingredient to the wrong step?
You can manually adjust tags in the recipe editor. Click the Γ to remove a tag, or use + Add ingredient tag to add one to a different step.
Do subscribers need to do anything?
No. Once enabled, the ingredient tags appear automatically when they view recipes.
