H5P: Linking a module with Make a Copy

Learn how to connect H5P modules to your course

Updated over 7 months ago

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to provide information on linking an H5P module to a course using the Make a copy option

Note

Before continuing with this tutorial, please first read the pros and cons regarding the way you link your H5P modules to your course content. You can find our explanation of them in the article: H5P: Important Settings.

If you have decided to change your H5P activities to be copies of the Content bank modules, you will need to delete the file from the course activity and reconnect it again, selecting Make a copy of the file.

Procedures

  1. First, open the H5P activity on your course page

  2. Navigate to the Settings Tab

  3. Click on the H5P File icon. Then choose the Delete button to remove it. Don’t click Save yet

  5. After selecting the module you want, choose Make a copy of the file from the top of the selection menu

Red arrow pointing to selected radio button next to Make a copy of the file and button labeled Select this file

  6. Click Select this file and then Save and display.

Your H5P module will now be saved to the H5P activity on the course page.

Note

Please remember that this activity will no longer be updated if you make a change to the module in the Content Bank, but the load time will be much faster even for content-heavy files. This will continue to be the case when the content is copied to a new course.
