Introduction
Before learning how to manage users in Cogniss, you should familiarize yourself with Cogniss User Roles. In Cogniss, you can manage users at both a platform level and an app level.
Managing Platform Users
In your Cogniss account, navigate to Admin in the menu in the top right corner.
The Users page shows you two tabs: Users and Roles & Permissions.
Users lists all users who have created a user account and displays information about the user, such as their Display name, Username, Email address, and Date created. You can also search for a user if you wish to.
Roles & Permissions enables you to easily filter your user list by: All Roles, Platform Admin, Platform Moderator, and Platform Analyst.
In either tab, you can click on a user to open their user profile.
Assigning Platform User Roles
Once you've clicked on a user, you'll be able to view details about their user account as well as manage their Access and Permissions. It's important to note that any colleagues requiring access to your Cogniss account will first need to create a user account, otherwise they won't appear in your user list.
Here, you can select from Platform Admin, Platform Moderator, or Platform Analyst. You can also select if the user should have access to the personal information of your app users.
Once you have updated the user's platform access and permissions, they'll be able to see and / or edit all of the apps in your Cogniss account.
Note, if you wish to remove a user account you can select the Archived option. If you wish to ban a user account you can select the Banned option.
Managing App Users
When accessing an app in your Cogniss account via Creator, you can use the Users tab to show you who is currently a registered user for that particular app. Similar to the platform view, here you can see their Display name, Username, Email address, and the Date they registered.
You can filter your list of users by searching for a specific display name, or by assigning a date range (see the example below) to display users who registered for your app within the selected dates.
Creating a new App User
You can register a new app user by clicking the Register a user button on the top right-hand side of the Users page.
Viewing User Information
If you wish to get more information about a specific user, simply click on that particular user from the home page. You'll now be able to see their account details and app progress and edit their app access and permission roles.
You can also use this view to manually trigger a Notification or Transaction to be sent to the user, similar to the Results component of Behaviors.
With this, you can send the specific user Virtual Goods, Push Messages, or unlock access to an Activity.
Assigning App User Roles
There are four different types of user roles within the Cogniss platform. Each role grants the user different levels of access to your app.
App Users: Users are automatically assigned to this role when they sign up for your app.
App Moderators: These users can moderate and manage posts on your Newsfeed (if you have this feature in your app).
App Analyst: These users are able to see your app in Cogniss Creator, but aren't able to make any changes to the app itself.
App Admins: These users have the ability to make changes to your app through Cogniss Creator and can view app insights through Cogniss Insights.
